Whole grain: A grain that has not been overly processed and is more natural.

Whole wheat: Wheat that is a whole grain.

Multigrain: food that contains more than one type of grain.

Whole wheat and whole grain are both good. Multigrain can be misleading, because it only means it uses different types of grains, but doesn't mean that it uses a lot of them.

The primary advantage of whole grain is fiber. Foods with more fiber will be better in general. Fiber is necessary for proper digestion and can even prevent some forms of cancer. Fiber also slows digestion, which can keep you full longer and regulate your bloodsugar levels, preventing highs and lows and cravings.

A little trick my nutritionist taught me is to look at the label and see the amount of fiber. If it is less than 3, it's not good enough. If the fiber is higher, then it means the bread will be more nutritious (by the way white bread has less thanone gram of fiber per slice).
The fiber slows down the digestion process which makes the bread moreor less go through you instead of turning straight to sugar like breads without fiber.

None of the grains magically do anything, but they provide fiber which can help some people feel full. It never did for me, but others claim it does.

Based on fiber, all of the above choices are roughly equal. It would depends on the calories and carbs of the bread and how much sweetener was added. It also depends on what you put on the bread (skip butter).
