I got a 17 pound one from our lovely organic butcher's in Clapham. The bronze ones are the ones to go for. That will feed 7/8 people plus some spare for sandwiches. Just remember that turkey itself is a very dry meat so cook it for the first half upside down so that the juices run into the breast meat.

I always get the biggest turkey I can find no matter how many I'm serving. It's the turkey sandwiches, the turkey salad sandwiches, and scalloped turkey and dressing the next week that's so good. I never have any wasted. When my kids were growing up, I baked a large turkey once a month year round. It was healthier than lunch meat for sandwiches and the kids loved it.

I usually buy a 12 to 15 lb turkey and about a 6-8 lb turkey breast and I have left overs for the next few days. I feed 7 people.

buy a 6-7 lb turkey breast cook it 2 hours or less and u will feed the 7 of you, and , a a few sandwiches later. of course defrost it first and longer time cooking is better than using intense heat.

Each person has the capacity to consume about 1lb of turkey meat each. And if you want spare for sandwiches I would say a 15 lbs turkey would be adequate and if you still have a lot of breast left, please give me a call and I will be glad to polish it off for you all.

It would depend on whether the 7 people are all adults or if some are children. I suggest going to a website such as butterball.com. They offer a turkey and stuffing calculator.

I would got one between 25 and 30 pounds. That way there is plenty of meat for everyone plus for later and some left for leftovers. Remember that about 30percent of that weight is bones. It's better to have extra than to have people go away hungry.

If you go to butterball.com you can actually tell them how many adults and children there will be, whether you want leftovers or not and it will calculate what size you should have. For 7 adults only they suggest 10.5. But I'd go and put the info that's right for you. Hope that helps.

I'd go for at least 14 pounds, a lot of that is the bones don't forget. You might even want to to a little bigger than that.
