I believe it is lack of knowledge on preparation and picturing a little lamb being killed. Lamb is so good though.

Probably a little bit of both reasons. The cost can be prohibitive and there isn't as much publicity and preparation ideas for lamb.
Actually, lamb is more lean than many other meats. Many people with heart disease prefer lamb. Also, "lamb" is usually marketed at about 120-135 lbs.and up to 1 year old, so it isn't really a 'little' lamb!
My kids love lamb chops fresh from the outdoor grill, no special jellies or sauces. I have also made lamb 'carne asada', marinated and served with tortillas, as well as leg of lamb and lamb stew.

I love Lamb and try to prepare it as often as I can . For me, it is cost that stops me from preparing it more often.
If I'm really craving it and short on money, my grocery store sells ground lamb patties. I can get those for about $3.00 Or I can get lamb shoulder steaks cheaply too but, these have to cook a while to make them tender and I prefer my lamb to be Rare to Medium Rare. Can't go wrong with a good old leg of lamb !
No Mint Jelly, here. Just the delicious flavor of lamb !

Lamb as well as other meats have had somewhat of a bad 'rap' for a while now. It was thought to be 'gamey' with a somewhat foul after-taste, and thus you had the mint jelly craze.
With advances, and laws improving the livestock trade, lamb have been kept in better conditions, and now are more appealing to general tastes.
The same can be said of eating Pork, and the temperatures you cook it to. It does not have to be dry, and cardboard-esque anymore, since pig raising is watched better than it was 5-10 years ago.

Lamb can have a very strong ordor and flavor. It is also high in internal and external fats. Some people soak the lamb in a vinegar water to remove the oder and calm the flavor. I personally love it although I am the only one in my household who does. It makes no sense to buy a costly food that not everyone will enjoy, hence people buy foods that the entire family will eat.

I think most people think lamb is greasy. It's not of course if prepared the right way. We make a whole leg of lamb several times a year and guests are usually surprised at the taste. We also eat leg of lab "chops" and lamb "breast" meat which is very thin and very sweet, perfect on the grill. It might also depend on wht time of meat you grew up with.

Well for one thing it's not lean meats..so you only eat it on occasion. and it's expensive. Lamb takes a long time to cook also. so it's not something that you can put together in a hr.
You have to acquire a taste for it. In Europe and Asia it's very popular...Americans don't like lamb as much as we foreigner people do...Besides American food is boring and bland and fatty and not very tasty....

The price of lamb is prohibitive in our area. We do eat a lot of goat meat and it's great!
