You can try beige/tan. Black and gold or a combination of both will also do (that is if you want some drama effect). White is okay but too plain to look at so better have designs on it if you choose that color. Good luck.

I agree with the first respondant. Maroon and tan makes a great statement. You can easily find an area rug at www.homedecoratorscollection.com that is a natural fiber banded with marron. Rather classy I think.:-)

Cream or antique white. Add some gold trim and it will have a dramatic effect.

Chocolate colored accents usually look really good with maroon. Pair tan colored drapes with a chocolate colored scarf.
