Why is my boyfriend embarrassed about me?

I'm 13 and he's only two years older than me, but I know that's not what bothers him. When we're talking on the phone, he's makes me feel great, but when we're around his friends, he makes fun of me and is always joking about sexual stuff. I don't want him to feel this way about me. How do I deal without breaking up with the person who I love?

At 13, you THINK you love him, but you really don't. Think about it. In the history of the world, maybe THREE couples all time stayed together since they were 13. This too, shall pass. You learn that phrase. It will serve you well. Your just starting. Wait until your 15 and 16. And, by the way, 2 years difference now, is like ten years or more later on in life. HUGE difference between a 13 and a 15 year old.

As they say, "love is Blind" but at 13yrs old and havin a bf who makes fun of you in front of his friends, can be devastating.

Well there's a few things to clarify here though.

1. He makes u feel great when talking over the phone but makes fun of you when arnd his friends.

2. He always jokes sexual stuff with you.

Don't let it bother you! Boys of his age are prone to do this it is a THING they have to do to be ONE OF THE LADS! He probably doesnt really mean it at all, but boys stick together and basically at there age what else do they talk about. He is that little bit older than you and his hormones will be raging. Just make sure when you are alone, that you tell him how it makes you feel and hopefully when he feels secure in himself and not one of the lads he will treat you with more respect. If it continues and you feel hurt and he does nothing then maybe there are more fish in the sea and you could find a young man more in touch with his feminine side!

Hi there, when i was 13, i would play out with my friends, and have great fun. At such a young age you do not need to worry about boyfriends, and especially not sex, you should be with your friends having fun and doing girly stuff, you have plenty of time for all the other stuff, when you are an adult and are able to deal with it emotionally. This boy sounds very selfish and heartless, he obviously does not care about your feelings. If this was something my daughter came to me with, i would have to say to her, that she should let him go and wait for a couple of years until she was a bit older and ready to deal with boyfriends, and i think that is the advice that i would give you. I have a young daughter and she was going through the same thing, and I told her that her, bf will continue to make you feel good on the phone or text, but face to face will be different. He will try and act cool in front of his friends so that he looks good.

Try and talk to him, and tell him this, because you need to know what he feels about you, but it's down to you whether you believe him or not.
I think being 13 is too young to know what love is, and he may be immature about it.
You have your life ahead of youl the older you get you will realise what love is.

Hi you are both very young and boys are a lot slower in developing than girls.... with his friends he has to be this matcho person and boys tend to be scared of showing any feelings in front of their friends,,, unfortunately it doesnt change too much into adulthood either but it does get better with age........
All you can do is bear it because thats what boys are like at that age,, and treasure the time you have togehter, as long as he isnt ridiculing you or making fun of you infront of his friends it's pretty normal,, but dont sell yourself short........ if he treats you well when you are together then that is what matters

Either talk to him, or just don't hang around with his mates. Keep time for just you two. He does sound very immature though, but you're only 13! If you break up (and I wouldn't take the gags for long) there is definately going to be someone out there for you who won't need to make such personal jokes and make you feel rubbish!

He has two personas. There is the one you see, the loving, caring boy. Then there is the face he shows his peers, which is hip and cool and smarmy.

he does not want to lose status in their eyes so you get the short end of the stick.
