Because true Christianity is scary. You have to face the darkness in yourself and realise you are powerless to do anything about it. Then you let Jesus take away its power and the Holy Spirit replace it with pure light.

I think we have become more anti-religion than specifically anti-christian.
This is because we can a) see how much harm religion has done in the past and still continues to do today, and b) since Darwin's theory of evolution we are less inclined to believe in invisible deities. Evolution of species over millenia feels right because it makes sense.
The most important element of Christianity is that we 'do unto others as we would have them do unto us'. Put simply - if we all lived caring and thoughtful lives in constant consideration of those around us, society would be a wonderful place. Religion doesn't need to enter into it. But so few really 'good' people exist and they get so badly used and abused that many give up and go with the flow of selfishness around them.
The bible, the Quoran, the whatever religious reference work, are just fanciful stories. It's tragic that so many people are willing to be enslaved by the writings in those publications.

I don't know about Britain, But France has become anti-traditional because all the older generations are entrenched with tradition to include being a devote christian. I don't know, but maybe the same reformation is happening in Britain.

Christians (so-called) in Britain many years ago decided that the Bible was not true. As a result, most all their churches have closed. The British government has been warned by its own religious leaders that they do not expect a single Christian church to be in operation in about 50 years. This was based on a survey done in Britain about 10 years ago. The survey said Churches, it did not mention mosques. Wonder why?
EDIT: Sleestack 1-what you said is more true than anyone can imagine. You actually hit the nail on the head.

The issue with Christianity in the UK is essentially that it is an exclusive religious sect. In the climate of multiculturalism, that is itself enough to draw criticism from individuals; a critique of Christianity that, I must admit, I have some agreement with. It is nonetheless the case, however, that such criticism remains, for the moment, a solely personal thing. Many non-christians have more than a little revulsion for the idea of an institutionalised prohibition of any religion, regardless of whether or not we believe in it, and I think that will probably be a more defining characteristic of the English than of its own attitudes to the faith in question.
Incidentally, what was your question?

Because the government are going totally crazy on political correctness, they need a rocket up their behind. I am not Christian but do not like the way our national identity has been wiped out by do-gooders scared to upset ethnic minorities. They are after all MINORITIES and not the national majority. Whats the next step do we not carry forward democracy because minorities don't want it? The worlds going crazy.

Britain anti-Christian? I don't think so.
We have a blasphemy law which protects only Christianity. We have seats and votes in the legislature given to people on the basis of the office they hold in the Christian church. Our Head of State is also head of the country's Christian religion. Our Prime Minister is a self-professed Christian.
Perhaps there was something else about your question... could you hint more at what it contained?

I think calling the whole of Britain anti-Christian is leaping to conclusions a bit. It depends what your question was. It might have only offended one person.

thats a easy one.. because we are no longer willing to accept the what a book says we dont belief in fairy tale's..we are the superior race on this planet brits are not stupid we controlled the planet without bombs(nuclear bombs)we have invented and giving the world many great things..the year is 2006 its time we moved on in life and get rid of religion and slowly but surly it will happen. the generation of todays brittian now know that a book does not make sense anymore(how can anyone belief what a book without hardcore evidence says) we now know what religion does to people around the world(hate, wars, death, unrest) theses things alone prove to me that religion is a con only for the power controlling' money making crazys its pathetic.
the average age of a christian in this country must be about 55 years old or your colour is not of white origin its dying in this country..the Church's are getting turned in to apartments, nightclubs, getting knocked down, and good riddance..come and visit brittian and see for yourself..and now we have to get rid of all the muslims coming here and spreading there disease..we want to be a free country and think for ourselves and not be deluded by religion........dont get me wrong i dont hate christians..but they need to stop interfering with us non believers life's..they need to realise that we have a alternative science and evolution thats make's alot more sense than what a book says that was written by man and used to control people
religion is a disese and brittian is not far away from curing it

The Brits have gone the way of post-modernism, like most of Western Europe. Also, German higher criticism has conquerored the Church in Europe, and has invaded the USA as well.
