The main think I learned is that a positive mental attitude is the key to overcoming every hardship in life, and I also learned that humanity and morality are thin veneers that mask the fact that most people are perfectly capable of inflicting horrendous suffering on others.

No. I think the world's existence is nothing but a random quantum fluctuation on the inflaton following perfectly deterministic, if quantumly probablistic, scientificly definable principles.
However, there is an old saying, "The fool learns from his mistakes; the wise learn from the mistakes of fools." I happen to agree whole heartedly with this quote.

I have learned a lot and am continuing in the learning. I learned that people are fearful, noble, brave, petty, monstrous, saintly, generous, selfish, egotistical, self sacrificing, indifferent, aggressive, passive, altruistic, greedy, spiteful, loving, pretty much all of it. And that I attract what I myself project. And in that I have experienced it all too.
HA HA! We never stop learning!
I have learned to avoid meanness though. It makes me angry. So I don't keep up with political news. But I do vote!
