there are a number of possible explanations
1. not telling a person, something as a means of seeing their world implode later - an affair for example - is a hurtful and deceitful thing to do
2. having an affair is deceitful and thereby knowing the hurt it will cause when it comes out and still failing to respond appropriately to it by saying NO shows that you do not care about the hurt it will cause
3. Setting out to start an affair with someones partner as a deliberate ploy to inflict hurt
you choose, sadly the 3 examples above is not the limit of how "So much hate lies in deceit"
or am I being deceitful

For a very slightly different take: It is not so much the act of cheating your fellow man that is hateful, but rather if you are willing to do so, you must have a misanthropic attitude towards your fellow man if to be willing to deceive them. The hate must exist before the act of deceit.

I assume it means that when you lie to or deceive someone, you don't do it because you love them. The use of the opposite word (hate) is making the point by emphasis using an extreme opposite (there's a term for it but I've forgotten what it is - Antithesis?)

It means exactly as it says babe. For you to be deceitful (i.e lie to them) to someone, you must hate them. If you think about it, you can't be deceitful to someone you love x x x
