That definately IS a damper. Divorce IS NOT a word that should be HEARD on a day as sacred and beautiful as your wedding day. I personally believe there is power in words we speak(death and life are in your tongue).... if you say it, be assured it will happen. Besides, the church has instituted "till death do us part",so,go with the flow, and don't bother yourself,be positive. While exchanging your vows, you are making a statement and testifying before God and man,may it not be that your testimony in God's presence will be held against you. So for the love of all that is good and holy DO NOT SAY "from this day forward, until divorce do us part"(it puts a dent in your future as a couple).... I do hope you change that part of your vows. Congratulations and all the best.

I f You`ve got that attitude then there`s no point in marrying. The answer is not to rush into marriage, not to marry someone coz You like the idea of being married.Sometimes divorces are a necessary, esp if it hasn`t been working for donkey`s years!! It`s like anything You cant always guarantee it,but that doesn`t mean You shouldn`t take the chance and give it Your best

I actually knew a couple who changed the wording from-"...as long as we both shall live" to "...as long as love lasts". It seemed kinda pessimistic but if that is what they wanted, it was their ceremony. You can both agree on whatever and it is true that in some countries most marriages end in divorce. I held out until I found someone who wanted to stay together for the long haul. We both agreed when we marry,no divorce...but that is just us. You have to do what you feel is right.

Of course it would dampen everything. Why go to all the trouble of getting married if you can see it ending in divorce? You may as well walk up the aisle to D.I.V.O.R.C.E x x x

If your're getting married in Church - then you have to say 'til death as they still don't recognise divorce. At a civil ceremony you can say what the heck you want - but you might get a few gasps from the guests.

If you are anticipating divorce - I'd save the money and not even get married.
If its a joke - its a poor one.

when people get married it is supposed to be forever and ridiculing marrige vows is the very reason we have such a high divorce rate...
people should only take their vows if they are prepared to hold them close for the very rest of their lives!!!!!
