I am looking for kin of mine that lives in Tennessee????

i m trying to do my family tree, i am having trouble with my mothers mothers side of the family. i only have her mother and no more, i have a aunt of hers that is still living in tennessee, how can i locate people or find out who all are in the family, help

my moms mother is Ruby Fayette Covington Bonner the covington part is the problem, somewhere in Greenback Tn is where she was raised. She married a James Monroe Bonner from alabama.

Have you gone on Ancestry.com and registered a free public profile? You can put all the information you know about your Mom's side of the family up there and make it public so anyone else from your extended family who goes on there will know that you are looking. You can also search on Ancestry.com for people with your Mom's maiden name, and narrow the results by the exact location in Tennessee. I don't work for Ancestry.com, even if it sounds like it. I just know that it is the biggest, most comprehensive ancestry database in the U.S. and I have found a lot of extended family members through it.

You've probably already thought to call your Aunt on your Mom's side to ask her for more names and information about your family. If worse comes to worst you can go online in the people search directory and look for people with your Mom's maiden name (unless it's extremely common) in the town where she comes from and call them up. If it's an unusual name and you know the town your Mom's family is from, there won't be very many records and you can probably call them all in a few minutes. What could it hurt? The worst they can say is they aren't interested in helping you, but why wouldn't they be?

Your mother's mother could have been born 48 years ago or 170 years ago, depending (*See below). Both numbers are extreme but physically possible. That is why good genealogy queries have birth dates (for dead people, not living ones.)

"Greenback" could be the name of a crick, hollar or a large town; that is why the county name helps a lot in a good genealogy query. I found Greenback in Louden County but am not sure the one I found is the one you mean.
