In most areas of China, you are only allowed to have one kid, EXCEPT FOR in the case of a multiple birth. If you have twins, triplets, or more, you get to keep all of them. Please don't listen to the people who say, "Nah, u have to abort one of them; keep the boy..." I know for a fact that if you have twins, triplets, etc, you can keep them all, because I asked my mother, and I'm related to Chinese-born twins.
Also, in rural areas in China, if your first child's a girl, you can have one more birth, whether that may produce one child or seven.
I have a younger brother; I was born in China, but he was not. If we were to go back to live in China permantly, our parents would not have to pick between the two of us. There is a Chinese family right now who is having a child in the United States who already has one in China. Since this new child will be born in the U.S. and not in China, that's okay.
I have heard of some Chinese quads, quints, and sextuplets. fortunately, those parents got to keep all of their Children.
The law about it being okay to have two, three, etc. kids outside China but illegal in CHina may sound weird, but that's how it goes...
There's an exception to every rule, and having twins, etc. is one of them.

Accidents don't happen in Chinese birth. Everybody has access to ultrasound scan, so you will know when you get twins. You will also know if it boys, girls, or boy-girl. Many people will consider abortion........ You will need to report it and hope for the best. It also depends on your economic or intellectual status if you get a fine or not.
The term "one-child policy" is based on a popular misconception that the birth control policy of the PRC requires all couples in mainland China to have no more than one child.
In reality, though having one child has been promoted as ideal and the limit has been strongly enforced in urban areas, the actual implementation varies from location to location.
In most rural areas, families are allowed to have two children, if the first child is female, or disabled. Second children are subject to birth spacing (usually 3 or 4 years).
Additional children result in fines, more frequently the families are required to pay economic penalties, and cannot receive bonuses from the birth control program. They also have to pay for both the children to go to school and all the family's health care.
Some children who are in one-child families pay less than the children in other families. In contemporary China however (2005,2006), some exceptions to the rules are said to exist in major cities such as Shanghai and Beijing.
For example, two "only child" parents may have more than one child; and two parents with university Masters degrees may have more than one child.

It is a fact that in poor parts of China where the people are much more vulnerable one of their "accidents" is exterminated by a woman's "health nurse" Most often they are forced to abort beforehand.

Most places you can have one child but if you have twins it is ok.
But people who are rich can just spend money to have another one.
So it shouldn't be a problem.
They even have a Twins competition as well on Hunan channel during the past month. Twins are welcome.

If it's a boy and girl; then you keep the boy. If it's a double then you take one and give the other to an orphanage.
