I think some of us women are more forgiving. A man could cheat on a woman, and the woman would find it in her heart to give him one more chance. She would not forget it, but she would forgive him. However if a woman cheats on a man, most men won't forgive a woman for doing so. A guys ego is severely crushed when something like this happens. I have heard this from a lot of guys I have known.

Whoever values the relationship more will be more forgiving.

If they forgive each other equally without needing a reason or by keeping a score card... Then you have a really solid foundation and a very sacred relationship.

If it's one-sided one person will not live happily and it'll be terribly unfair for him/her.

It depends. However since women are more emotional than men they do tend to hold on to things for longer periods of time. But in time if they truly love someone then there will be forgiveness.

Men. Women forgive but they never forget. Ever. We're the opposite and stubborn but we cheer up quicker. Yeah, we overreact but we're not gonna toss your stuff off the roof.

It isn't the gender that determines who is more forgiving but the heart of the person.
