Ok well i had my voice lesson yesterday and we worked on a lot. Like well my teacher taught me how to do cresendos, and its not easy. When she showed me how she did it, her voice like filled up the whole room during her cresendo. And mine didn't even fill half. Is there any way that you could tell me how to do it, like she said if I do it every day, it will help me out with my breathing, and that I will notice a differenace, and that it will strenth my vocal cords. Cresendos in voice are not easy to do. She also said that i still keep smiling when I sing, and well it prevents me fromg getting my moiuth to open widers, So if i dont smile, my mouth does open wider. So idk. PLease tell me tips to work on my cresendos. Thanks, and I appreacate the help!

Exercise your lungs. Practice deep breaths and this will build your vocal strength.

Find an object in the room and put a circle on top of it. Try to imagine your sound going directly in the circle. You will be amazed at the voice control this offers. When you fill the circle you fill the room. Smiling while singing pinches the sound. You must relax your throat muscles and sing from the tummy. Always remember sing a song do not let it sing you. When you are able to tell the difference you will have it mastered.

Most of the advice received so far has been good. One thing not mentioned is resonance. A voice will always carry farther if it is carried on a good stream of air from the diaphragm, but the placing of the tone within the facial mask affects volume and tone also. If the voice is in the throat it won't resonate - imagine your body is a waterwheel with the breath and sound going up your back as the waterwheel turns forward. Up your back, past your throat, into sinus and facial mask and out through the mouth.

This reminds me of a classic performers joke. a man asked another for directions.."How do you get to Carnegie Hall?"..the other man replied "Practice, Practice, Practice!"
My point is your vocal instructor already gave you some pointers, there is no 'immediate fix". These things take time and lots of practice.
Most important is to practice your breathing and your posture. If you are running out of breath or have a problem with power, it couldbe your breathing. One trick..Try singing laying on your back. Andrea Bocceli demonstrated this on American Idol last year.
When you smile, you are using facial muslces that may cause you to strain,as well as diminish your sound a little.
One more other thing, take care of your body. You can't plug it in like a guitar, so your physical condition, emotional state and environment can and will affect how you sound.

i suppose to be able to fill up the whole rm with ur voice, u cld start by doing more vocal, diaphragm exercises. I was told having strong diaphragm has nothing to do wif a powerful vocal. well, never go into researching dat yet. past experience was by lying down on ur back n deep inhaling/exhaling then make sounds like "woo-oh-orh-ah-aye-ee". to understand ur diaphragm strength, lie on ur back with a thick telephone book or dictionary atop ur abdomen. inhal n exhale n see the rise n fall of d book n try vocal exercises. u'll feel d difference as u'll need more strength to utter those 6 sounds. best to c how to increase ur power is to go to d library n borrow books in regard to voice exercises. =) have fun!

They are not hard to do.
you know how when you wisper, its as soudless as you can get, and when you yell at the top of your lungs, you don't think you can get any louder?
Well when you are Crescendoing (if that's a word) Its exactly the same.
sing any note as quite as you can, and grauduly start getting louder and louder .
Or there is this example:
you know when you hear a Fire tuck siren or somthing, and as it gets closer to you it gets louder and it sounds really cool.... That's bascily all you are doing in Crescendoing (if that is a word)
Are you breathing crrectly?
a) place you hand on your stomach (belly button)
b)take a really really intestes breath in.
NOTE: DO NOT LIFT UP YOUR SHOULDERS!
c) stand/ sit up strait
Good luck
