I got a cut on my chin three (3) years ago. I was suppose to get stiches on it but due to badly managed health system in my country and long hours of waiting it was never sitched. I saw a Medical Practitioner 18 hours after of which it was too late for stiches to be done. However it was sanitized dress and I was adminstered Antibiotics.

To this date the spot occasionally itches and when the icthing begins the spot also gets slightly swollen.

Am not a medical personel, but my mom is. From what I know,
the surface of the wound is healed, but there is incomplet healing
internaly. Itching is a sign of incomplete healing.

I would also say that you stop scratching it too hard so as to
avoid agravating the wound. Is there a thick hard scar? If there
is, then I sugest you have it cut and treated by a specialist.

Hope my answer will be helpful to you. Goodluck.

It probably healed very slowly (on the inside) the itching is just scar tissue and the swelling is probably just the excess from not being stitched. If it becomes red(not from itching) then you may have an infected hair of something involved, but nothing serious.

Apparently it didn't need stitches. Itching would indicate the area is healing up; and slightly swollen, that's normal unless you have a reddened area and it's draining. I think you need to go out and take a walk and get your mind off of this minor event. Godloveya.

sound normal. I have had itching and all at an incision site (surgery). sometimes it has felt numb, took a while to get feeling back (couple years or so) sometimes they stay that way.
