Tea tree oil has been found to be the most effective. It fights off the fungus that causes the ringworm and it's 100% natural.

Unfortunately there are no quick and easy remedies for getting rid of ringworm, it is a tenacious fungus. Lotrimin AF works great, but you need to apply it regularly twice a day for weeks, even after you can't see the rash anymore.

You might want to go to a dermatologist and have a skin scraping done, though. I have seen rashes that looked JUST like ringworm and which were diagnosed as ringworm by multiple physicians but when they were evaluated under a microscope turned out to be psoriasis or eczema that mysteriously appears in rings. In those cases the creams helped a little, but never cured it because they were antifungal creams and the problem wasn't a fungus--so the creams were only helping by keeping the area hydrated.

Good luck!

Medicines that kill fungi are called antifungals. You can treat most cases of ringworm with antifungal creams or ointments (topical treatment). Many are available without a prescription. Your rash may start to clear up soon after you begin treatment, but it is important to use the medicine exactly as the label or your doctor says. This will help keep the infection from coming back. Usually you need to continue treatment for 2 to 4 weeks.

Your doctor will prescribe antifungal pills if your rash is widespread or if topical antifungals do not get rid of it.

If ringworm is not treated, the skin can become irritated and painful. Skin blisters and cracks can become infected with bacteria. If this happens, you will need antibiotics.

A few years ago, I got ringworm on my wrist from working cattle.
If you want a home remedy that works, use Iodine.
It's hard to find the real stuff these days. Most are diluted with alcohol.
See the pharmasist. Maybe they have a little brown bottle of the stuff behind the counter.
It works! Apply it a few times a day.

Clear nail polish. Seriously. It suffocates it and kills it. Do a search on Yahoo and you'll see.

Also, that new skin liquid bandage serves the same purpose.

This application is rather more controversial, and you need to be aware of any allergic reaction to the nail polish but the tip is as follows: Apply clear nail polish to the affected area on a daily basis. What you are doing is suffocating the fungus. Sounds strange but it works.

Home made, self prepared medication for intestinal & other worms. Pulverise dried pawpaw seeds. Mix 2-teabag-size of the substance in warm glass of water and drink 3X daily for 3 days. Mix same in share butter (or any seed based oil) and apply on affected areas of the skin. Very effective

Go to your Dr, and they will give you a antifungal cream to put on it. You have to apply it twice a day and then for a week after it is cleared.
