I had a BBQ pizza and sangria party this summer we had a great time and everyone was drinking my sangria here's my recipe.
One bottle Spanish red
Castillo de Monseran Garnacha is an inexpensive red
3 cups orange juice
1/2 cup Appleton's estate rum (brandy is more traditional but rum imparts more flavour)
1 tbsp sugar
One vanilla bean split
several slices of orange
When empty the orange slices and vanilla bean are good to go for the next batch.

I first had Sangria in Spain, and have always preferred it authentically made. Here's the recipe I generally use, which my friends always seem to enjoy.
Ingredients:
Magnum (1.5L) cheap Spanish wine.
Half bottle (375mL) Spanish brandy.
Quarter bottle (200mL) Triple-sec (or Grand Marnier if you're feeling bling-y).
Bottle (1L) Sprite or 7-up (or Mountain Dew if it's going to be an all nighter)
Two large navel oranges.
Three bosc pears.
Two granny smith apples.
One Mango.
Directions:
Take all the fruit (leave the skins on) and slice thinly. Put in a large punch bowl. Add brandy and leave in the fridge overnight.
The next morning, add wine and triple sec. Just before serving, add the soda.
Serve and enjoy!

Here is the recipe that I used, and it came out pretty good:
1 750-ml bottle of dry red wine (3 cups)
1 1/2 cups lemon-lime soda (such as 7UP)
1 1/2 cups orange juice
16 lime slices
16 lemon slices
8 orange slices
1/2 cup brandy
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons Cointreau or other orange liqueur
2 tablespoons grenadine
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
Stir wine, soda, orange juice, 8 lime slices, 8 lemon slices, orange slices, brandy, sugar, Cointreau, grenadine, lemon juice and lime juice in large pitcher to combine. Let stand 30 minutes.
Fill 8 large wineglasses with ice cubes. Divide sangria among glasses. Garnish each glass with remaining lime and lemon slices and serve.
It seems like a lot of work, but it is easy if you are making pitchers of it. I usually make two or three batches and leave two in a container in the fridge as I serve one from a nice fruit-filled pitcher. Use whatever fruit you want - I like to add grapes and strawberries instead of so many lemons/limes. Everyone loves it!
