Backpacking is the best, I did it! Try and stick to cheap places like south east Asia, India, south America etc. They also tend to be the most culturally different and interesting places. Stay in hostels/dorms, that way you save money and meet lots of people too. Travel with a friend, that helps when it comes to paying for stuff.
STA Travel and Travelmood both do good round the world packages. Otherwise plan where you want to go and go in and speak to someone there.

Contiki Tours!! Most people do them, but they are restricted to a continent etc. Like Travel Europe or do Australia and New Zealand in 10 days.

Back packing is the cheapest way of travel go to places and work for a couple of days at a hobby farm or whatever that way your holiday is paid for that way and you never know your luck you might come back with more money than you satrted with

there is this package deal that you can get you go to 7 different countries in 2-3 months and stay in hotels, camping. it costs €1,000. and just do that your meals are included in some places. hope i helped

honestly to shuttle is to spend funds so in case you want to maintain funds you should be very imaginative in words of transpo, motel lodging, nutrients, and places to visit. examine the internet for suggestion and likewise shuttle for the duration of off height season.
