a month ago my bf was spending like two weeks by his friends house out of town. he got head lice. he said he got it from this girl. i only know of her from him and yeah she has a boyfriend. i've never had lice before and theres never been an outbreak of it in school when i was younger so i reallly don't know how easily it is to contract lice from another person. so it's got me worried..that maybe he fooled around with some girl while he was there.. is it possible to get lice from just being around another person..or do you have to be really close?

it's very easy to get lice. he could of caught it from sleeping in bed, if his clothes touched her hair or her clothes. he could have got it from the furniture. it doesn't mean that he had any physical contact with the girl.

Sorry to tell you but most of these answers are garbage. Head lice live on heads. They don't live in sheets and beds etc etc...this is a nonsense.
You get head lice from other people with head lice and you need head to head contact for it to happen.
Your b/f could have caught them anything in the last couple of months from a friend or family member
Sort your relationship out with this guy by all means but he won't know for sure where he got them and nor will you.

You can get lice from setting on a couch after someone with lice has set on the couch. Its very easy to contract head lice, after all, young children get it very easily in school. My daugher had a bad case about 3 years ago before she was ever in school, did not go to daycare, I have no idea how she got it, but it has to be very contagioius if they make a kid stay out of school until they are egg free. I would not automatically tink that he got it from messing around with a girl. If it is in his pubic hair, then yes I would be concerned. If you are afraid of lice, just go ahead and treat yourself. You can buy shampoo over the counter (RID, and their are cheaper shampoos that are store brand and have the same active ingrediants in them.

yes it's easy to get lice but you can also get them by laying in the same bed with a person who has the lice. he could have been cheating to. you will never know until he tell you or his friend tell you. but like the others said there are many way of getting lice.

Oh! lice are easy to get, especially if your on the same sheets, use the same comb, the same brush or hugging. Closeness I guess you could say.

It is very easy to catch. Using the same brush, sitting in the same place on a couch as she did..it is very easy to catch. Lice can jump from one head to another...it is nasty, but true.

oh its easy, it would be on the sheets, the pillows, the couch, her hair brush, they couldve sat together in the couch or in a car. they jump pretty high :)
