hey!

It really isn't that difficult, the grammar will eventually come to you easily, and then after that it's just a matter of vocabulary. The more vocab you learn, the better you will be. It's as simple as that..

I drastically improved my french by reading newspapers and news magazines..every time you find a new word, look it up..when you come across it again you will feel really smug that u know it..and that is exactly how you remember it...

anyway, i hope this helps..

good luck! bisous x

It is not only french, it's basically all latin languages - french, portuguese, spanish, italian. I think it's because of its grammar (very different from english), the 'R' sound, the words' gender (feminine, and masculine), the articles (le, la l'), etc.
I am studying french, and I don't find it very difficult, because I have a very solid background of latin language, otherwise, I think it would be very, very difficult to learn it.

It is one of the most difficult language in the world.
to writ a sentence you need to take into account the sense of the sentence, the accents, the sounds which are the same but can be written differently depending on the letter it is surrounded by, etc. I think the best way is to read and also to writ everyday. But I believe that if the French did not made fun of those who do not manage to speak their language correctly they would still be an important language to speak nowadays when you compare it with English. They are so patronising, authoritarian, complicated, and love to stress competition in the class room when instead the goal is to teach every one; or maybe not for them. Because they are elitist.

I am French. The spelling is the hardest. It requires years and years to learn it as there are a lot of letters we write down but don't pronounce.

For the most part it involves memorization - LOTS and lots of memorization.

If you're taking it in school then memorize the vocab lists as they're given to you - figure around 10 words a day. Also memorize verb conjugation (like etre, avoir, vouloir, etc.) basics. Eventually you'll have enough to be able to string together simple sentences.

Try and think of things in french that you would say in english. If you are thinking "I want breakfast" try thinking of it as "Je veux le petit-dejeuner". Good luck!

Apparently French is one of the easiest languages to learn... English is one of the hardest!

I think it's very easy for English people to learn. Similar tenses, no case endings to worry about. One of the easiest.

I didn't think that it was difficult to learn. Maybe you should try a different approach to learning it.

The human brain is literally wired differently in each person. Some have a facility for languages, others do not. You are probably like me, in the "not" category. Sigh. Keep slugging through. You will get.
