Unless a person is asking for or quoting a historical fact, which any reference source can provide, then isn't everything in the R+S forum a matter of opinion??

It is because we are seeking opinions that we are receiving violations for chatting. Customer care actually explained this to me, to my amazement.

I fail to see how asking what wisdom you learned from your grandparents counts as chatting or seeking opinion...but it does. Right. Me thinks the trolls are simply swamping Yahoo! with bogus reports, and as Y!A is understaffed, they just issue violation notices without investigation. The trolls win.

Don't let this discourage you. Keep on asking questions.

And by the way, how long do you think this question will stay up before it's deleted? I'm betting 4 hours tops.

As I haven't even asked a question, just give me anything for an answer, and have a great day.

angk...none of the questions cited will be reported. The hot spots are R+S, LGBT, and Politics.

Unfortunately, my internet connection does not allow me access to the 360. I have not seen it.For that, a trip to the library is in order.

The site would be better with less censorship in the Political and Religion sections. There's an old saying "Never discuss religion or politics." That is because they are explosive. Yahoo should just censor profanity, racism, and illegality. There would be a freer exchange of ideas. The censorship on Yahoo now is much stricter than TV or radio. There is no need for that. Those who are offended can leave. Those who want a lively discourse can stay. I have actually learned a lot being on this site. But if it becomes watered-down and stale, it will be worthless. This site has made me angry, made me laugh, and has been good entertainment, and educational. I hope Yahoo does not increase its censorship even more.

glad to see you are addicted, and can not leave us, chatt chat. I think if a person were smart and noted when a violation occured and when it started for them one can figure out who the trolls are. Perhaps just teens who are basically asking "is your referigerator running", but since it appears centered in this section it is more likely someone who has been hurt or feels a need to be in control. I figured out when my vilolations started and realize there were two that I unintentionally bothered. Noted also these had answered questions that did not get violated until just after I had given best answer to someone else. Pretty good sign I ticked someone off which means they are pretty sensitive or object to any opinion not their own. I try hard not to be offensive but apparently either it does not take much or some body is just having fun. It's only thoughts and a little writting right? It could be a cause for uniting us to narrow down the cause, so we could rid the section of an irritant, but it would have to be done in a loving manner. Just thinking, perhaps not awake yet. I know they started on me after answering one of your questions.

Perhaps in this area we could request the thumbs up or down not be available, cuz for certain it is being abused. I ask a question and good answers are reduced for what is obviously just someone going around pushing a button. I just make sure I award best for someone who got the thumbs down.

I asked a question which it was my thought was important because the hate left over from the civil war still has a negative effect on our democratic process, and of 6 questions 3 got pulled, and while there was a progressive change in the question taking into consideration answers (like many do not believe there is a deep south resentment to this day towards yanks hah) and those questions pulled had answers that southern christians would have resented yet it was the question that got pulled. I thought it interesting, they were pulled immidiately after I awarded best to those reporting yankees being abused on southern soil. Tells me they know it goes on and are hiding their behaviors of being hateful. Another interesting point was that those southern christians who would object to these practices had been kept in the dark by their neighbors, so what would be a stabilizing force is kept in the dark.

What I learned is that when people do hateful things (merchants during reconstruction) the results spread into the future increasing damage to us all for at least 140 years. Hate can truly do damage to us all. Look at the middle east that is hate caused by unfair practices that lasted thousands of years and shows no sign of coming to an end soon. We have maybe initiated the very force that will kill or maime our grandchildren.

sorry spell checky no work and too tired to reread.

am I slow or what, i just got it lone wolf ha cute

Asking questions of a spiritual nature is more harmful...

Why?
Because I'm fully aware that the passive approach will often lower peoples defences far more easily than the aggressive approach. If I start saying "Hate Muslims"... someone else is pretty sharply going to say "No!" and that will be the end of it. On the other hand if I can be sympathetic to their own means of operation, friendly to them, make them think positively of me... and then subtley suggest that Islam might be untrustworthy ... etc .... they're far more likely to start thinking that way.

Now ideally... if I really wanted to start converting people away from religion above all else.... I would go about it the latter way. However, I believe that it is a despicably dishonest way of doing things, and I would never abide such a thing. When I have an opinion to express then I do so up front and blatantly.... and if nobody takes it then sobeit....

In case you're wondering though.... yes... I did give a contrary answer to a rhetorical question.... just to show that truth is subjective.
Besides... If all the people of the world were more up-front and honest about their insecurities around other people.... it would be far easier to resolve them. As it stands, so many people have hatreds brewing inside them that they won't express until it has boiled over entirely and they end up lashing out and hurting someone.

Yahoo! is understaffed and the people reviewing the complaints really don't care. I wouldn't if that was my job. The culprits are the ones on here who report everything that either doesn't suit their worldview or anything posted by someone they have decided they don't like. I will continue to post any damned thing on here that strikes my fancy but I am really getting tired of it.

I did an experiment over the last few days and used an anonymous avatar and it has been free sailing. I don't have a lot of detractors but a few as a_delphic_oracle and I am using this identity a minimum of time these days. I have actually had fun as my other identity.

Actually, somewhere in the mire of comments on the Y!A team's 360 about violation problems, someone pointed out the sheer number of times Y!A promotes asking people for opinions.

It just seems to be this category, too...

From the front page, a random sample of questions, a few that appear to be seeking opinion to me...

How many Americans will die in terror attacks?
I think the voters were more concerned with stopping the war and wanting to pay more taxes?
I am going to live in Al Ain Abu Dhabi UAE, is this a good idea?!?
Who's the better QB this NFC Sunday: Eli Manning or Rex Grossman?

How many of those folks are going to get reported for chatting?

This is a no brainer. Ooops, I may have offended someone with that remark.

Exactly! But then even if I post a valid site that gives an "historical fact" it is still my opinion. I just simply agree with what is given as fact. (Example: Christopher Columbus did NOT discover America). I still get people who argue with me about this one because they learned in school that he did, in FACT, discover America. So, it still comes down to opinion.

I don't think it's just in here. Look at our society and easily it's feelings get hurt just because other religions, races, etc... are wanting the same freedoms and rights that the majority is enjoying. Just by these other groups standing up for their own personal freedoms, the majority cries that theirs is being taken away. It has come down to people, who claim to be mature adults, acting like little children who don't want to share their toys.

While I've always believed promoting bias, prejudice and hate to be more harmful, apparently I was wrong. I've received violations for asking questions about why I was being laughed at and called names for asking questions about certain religions. So asking questions is obviously wrong in some religions...

I agree with the Trolls assertion, as it seems to be an invasion.

If i comment here, aren;t i chatting.

If i give the answer "Right on!", in real life you recognize that as a valid response

If I comment, "Don't be a sap.", you are not offended, as I am not insulting you.

If you express your mind, even if I disagree with it, you can say it.

Why do things change when you are here?

answer is i might like the others to renowned my view on the question asked. Does it exchange the questioner's line of theory ? No,yet existence is often hinged on desire. If a majority of the answerer's are against a undeniable view expressed interior the question ,then the questioner will think of somewhat as to why the form of situation has taken place. Our substantial purpose is to start the thought technique the place the questioner will evaluate his perspectives on the situation .

promotion of bias, prejudice and hate are definitely more harmful in my opinion. we are all mortals and are seeking more wisdom and knowledge than we had before coming here in order to benefit not only ourselves but also all of mankind. by working TOGETHER and respecting each other this can and will be accomplished.
