It could also be a dry throat from the heater being on in the winter time and drying you out. Drink plenty of water, tea, some fruit juice all day long. Quite often, too, feelings of anger going unexpressed or other negative feelings going unexpressed can cause sore throat symptoms. Is there anything you need to tell someone that's making you really angry inside? Try to think of how to tell the person kindly. You might get relief. It's worked for me on a number of occasions when I've suffered from a "mysterious" sore throat.

I've always been told if a sore throat lasts more than a few days then get to the GP. The last time I did I had an infection, no cold like symptoms but it lasted a while and came back after the tablets and 2 weeks later I had to take another course of tablets for antoher 2 weeks then all was fine.

my husband suffered with sore throats for years but doctors were adamant there was nothing wrong but gave antibiotics which helped for a short while.
eventually we insisted on seeing a specialist who arranged to put a camera down my husbands throat to see what was going on.
He found what he called a "shelf" growing in his throat. As a result food was getting stuck, going off and causing bacteria. Once the "shelf" was surgically removed - no more sore throats - that was over 18 years ago.

I had sore throat for a year. Was in the doc's clinic every month for antibiotics. Found a good supplement that kept me away from doctor's clinic for 4 years now. Just make sure its just sore throat and not something serious.

You need to get a blood test and be checked for mono; I went for 5 weeks with a sore throat and finally I was so sick I almost had to be put in the hospital because I did not listen to the warning signs, mono is serious. If you continue to work or keep up you normal activities, your spleen can rupture.

My friend has a sore throat like that for a few months and when she finally went to the doctor it turned that she had strep throat the whole time. It took a long time for it to go away because she waited too long to go to the doctor. go now!!

As with anything like this, the best advice is to see a doctor immediately.
I don't want to be alarmist, but my father had a similar "sore throat" that turned out to be throat cancer.
Get it checked out straight away for peace of mind.

There is a bug going round, so many people are complaining of sore throats, I'd suggest you head on to the doctor, it's been too long already!

I have one and it bothered me and my parents since it became a manerism. They hated the sound that I make as if I wanted to spit something out. There is just this plegm that won't come out. I had it checked out when I was a kid and was medicated with dry cough syrups. It healed but the feeling of a plegm in my mouth was still there. Even though I was already cured I would still make the same sound until now.

I had that once after giving a guy a bee jay, the deposit he left in the back of my throat must have been infected, it was at least two weeks before it cleared up.
I didn't dare tell anyone or go to the doctor.
