Saint Mary Magdalene was the first witness to the resurrection of Jesus. (See the 20th Chapter of the Gospel of John).

She was one of Jesus' followers during his ministry, and was present at the cross when he died.

There is some debate on whether she is the woman in Luke 7 who was a notorious sinner. Most biblical scholars believe that Mary Magdalene was not the notorious sinner.

The 8th chapter of the Gospel of Luke describes Mary Magdalene as being healed and supporting Jesus' ministry out of her means.

With love in Christ.

There are many Mary's in the Bible, as it was such a common name then (and now lol), but there are 3 that are mentioned that some think are actually all the same person:

Mary of Magdala, which is where she gets her name, is definately her, and she was one of the disciples of Christ, was the last one to see Him before the stone rolled over His grave as well as the first one to see Him resurrected. She also is listed as someone who cast out devils, and one of the people who helped form the early Christian church.

Mary of Bethany is the one who wiped Jesus feet with her hair after annointing Him with oil. She was begging that Jesus help her brother Lazarus.

The third Mary is the one that Jesus rescued from being stoned to death for being an adulterer.

A lot of Christian religions say that it is all the same Mary, some reject this claim, saying they are all different Mary's. Some say that she was Jesus wife, because at one point the disciple's saw Him kiss her and said to themselves how it wasn't fair that they didn't get to kiss their wives. But that doesn't mean He married her necessarily.

She is definately a controversial figure!

A faithful follower of Jesus and one of the women who first saw his tomb empty. She is one of the three Mary's mentioned in the New Testament. Mary, the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and then there was a Mary, mother of two disciples. She is falsely accused of being Jesus's wife, partly due to both the play, Jesus Christ superstar, and that ridiculous book, Da Vinci code. She was never the lover, wife or mother of any child of Jesus's. Those are all lies.

She was a woman that Jesus cast seven demons out of. After Jesus cast out the demons, she became a close follower of him including being at the crucifixion and at the empty grave. She is falsely credited with being a prostitute. Her identity as a forgiven prostitute is the result of a Catholic Pope that began teaching it many, many years ago. In later years, the Pope recanted that Mary Magdalene was a prostitute, but by then her reputation had been tarnished.

A woman that became a disciple of Christ and along with some other women, followed Jesus and his apostles, taking care of their materials needs while the ministry was underway.

She even took care of Jesus after his sacrifice.

No-----there was no love affair or anything like that.
To accuse Jesus of holding a secret life like some have done, is sad.

Mary Magdalene is described, both in the canonical New Testament and in the New Testament apocrypha, as a devoted disciple of Jesus. She is considered by the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Anglican churches to be a saint, with a feast day of July 22. Her name means "Mary of Magdala", after a town on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee. The life of the historical Mary is a subject of ongoing debate.

In Luke 8:2 she is mentioned as one of the women who "ministered to Him [Jesus] of their substance" (in other words, they provided Jesus with money or supplies). The book also tells the story of an exorcism on Mary that cast out seven demons. These women, who earlier "had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities," later accompanied Jesus on his last journey to Jerusalem (Matthew 27:55; Mark 15:41; Luke 23:55) and were witnesses to the Crucifixion. Mary remained there until the body was taken down and laid in a tomb prepared for Joseph of Arimathea. In the early dawn of the first day of the week Mary Magdalene, Salome, and Mary the mother of James, (Matthew 28:1; Mark 16:2; Gospel of Peter 12), came to the sepulchre with sweet spices to anoint the body. They found the sepulchre empty but saw the "vision of angels" (Matthew 28:5). As the first witness to the empty tomb, Mary Magdalene went to tell Peter and John, (John 20:1-2), (gaining her the epithet "apostle to the apostles") and again immediately returned to the sepulchre. She remained there weeping at the door of the tomb. According to the New Testament, she was the first witness of the Resurrection appearances of Jesus, though at first she did not recognise him. When he said her name she was recalled to consciousness, and cried, Rabboni. She wanted to cling to him, but he forbade her: John 20:17 "Jesus said to her, 'Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, "I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God."'"

This is the last entry in the canonical Gospels regarding Mary of Magdala, who now returned to Jerusalem. She is probably included in the group of women who joined the Apostles in the Upper Room in Jerusalem after Jesus' ascension (Acts 1:14).

She was a prostitute who Jesus forgave and saved from being stoned to death. She also is the same Mary who washed Jesus' feet with her tears and dried them with her hair. Jesus said about that act when people around started to murmur about it that those that are forgiven much they basically do much.

needless to say, Jesus held her in severe esteem. The Catholic Church leaders ought to not settle for the sought after place Mary Magdalene performed, so as that they slandered her, and reported she become a prostitute. The Bible would not say this. And yet that is an unquestioned thought with the help of many Christians. i assume the Vatican has a vested interest in making human beings have faith that girls human beings on no account had management roles, or that there have been no staggering, clever women human beings interior the process Jesus. in line with possibility greater human beings might merchandise to the thought women persons at the instant are not allowed to be priests. smart, huh? earlier I knew that the prostitute allegations have been fake, I nevertheless cherished the tale, through fact i thought it proved that Jesus incredibly did love all and sundry. somebody being a prostitute would not have been condemned. that is sparkling that Mary Magdalene held an extremely particular place in his heart, so I understand why some human beings assume she become his spouse. even with the undeniable fact that i don't think the two of those theories, i think of it might merely be a testomony to Jesus' love for each guy or woman. That he'd love a former prostitute and take her as his spouse.
