A very good question.
There are several questions within your one.
I believe: ( through research and not belonging to any one religion)
Religions define God by a name which is inherent in the human mind to tag something to understand it( tree, dog, human). With the understanding of infinite thought and probabilities the One religions refer to is the same God. The Source. The source of light, dark and all existence. This is one entity or energy.
The paths we as humans choose to find this source is our differing religions each with their merits and flaws. We seek the same source. Eventually.
The Source is no 'man' or 'woman' sitting on a throne being wise, judge mental and all knowing it (It) is simply everything. That was, will be, is or may be. It is the fabric which which binds everything. Before man began to categories or define it.
The second question within yours hints at the 'prophets' question of the being the only way to the Source. Jesus, Mohamed, Quetzalcoatl, Buddha etc. (note we are speaking only of the prophets of Light) each proclaim that their way is their path God. The ultimate source.
Humans are different in their perceptions of everything so it is reasonable that God would have conceived of different paths to reach the One, ie enlightenment.

absolutely NOT.....
Yes. there is only one God but.....it would be like 3 people all claiming to the king. There really is a king, but which of the 3 people is he?
False claims to be God does not make one God, no matter how many people believe you.
Jehovah of the Bible is the Lord (Lord is a title , not a name) and God of the Jew and Christians...... Allah is a false God who claims to be the creator. He is not he creator God, the God of the Bible...instead he orders christians and jews to be killed, and he refuses to be called any other name but allah....jehovah will not do. Anyone who submits to jehovah instead of allah will be killed as an apostate in islam.

I don't believe that you can make the claim that all Gods are the same. How can you prove that? I don't thing there is as much hate between religions as some would like you to believe. I think that on TV and in newspapers it is the extreme examples hate that get the attention, and they represent only a small fraction of the believers of any given religion.

Because religions were made by people, and the churches are political institutions of power and influence.
If you would like to read a logical explanation about God and the Universe, without any bias whatsoever, read "Rational Spirituality" on the Dhaxem website. Only conveyed in February 2006, it is already a major force amongst the thinking and the genuine people. It certainly gave me all the answers I had been searching for.

I am not attempting to respond to 'all religions', but I can address the Christianity and Judaism religions presently.
The English word God, comes from multiple terms (ballpark 10) in the Hebrew (Genesis-Malachi) Some terms are singular, some terms are plural. What I can also mention here is that Lord, and Jehovah are the same being, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Since the bible is the only book that can provide accurate prophecy, as it did in the past, and also in recent years along with its historical accuracy and the principles that have proved to be not out of date but just as useful principles and actually better than modern medicine. No other book has done or proved itself more that the bible. So when it states there is only one God and his name is YHWH or Jehovah then by fact that statement must be true. Like many in Christendom, it is interesting that they worship the same holidays as pagans, wiccans and Babylonians. So regarding Jehovah who are his people.

Well let's see. There is only one God but he is called by different names. Just like there is only one you but you have many names. Your birth name, nick names, Uncle, Aunt, Grand pa Grandma etc. Some religions do have many Gods but the Christian God has all the attributes of anything you can dream up.

There is only one God, He is JHVH, or Jehova, the God of the Bible, the God that created the heaven and the earth. The other gods of other religions are false gods

The scientific answer :
Religions are made to unite people under one God they call him. Different religions born in different regions for one purpose, to unite the people. Its just like the world with many countries and countries do fight wars u know?? Now arise many nuclear war heads and soon humans will destroy themselves. Bravo people, keep fighting and you are all doomed!!

They are not different Gods, but different names for God in different cultures.
You are right, but some people cannot tolerate the others, like Jews who are mass killing the Palestinians.
