it's the o-ring & rust/corrosion.to help remove it, use wd-40 or pb blaster. very, very, very carefully use a dull chisel & hammer & tap at the base to help loosen it. try to twist it back and forth, it will take awhile. but you don't have to remove it to do timing chain & gears.

The 351c is a great motor . The distributer sits down in a shallow hole and water/ corrosion build up there. Blow out the crap with and air hose and soak it with a rust penatrant. You dont need to remove the distributer so it wouldn't hurt to just leave it alone , its already timed right with the cam . Your timing chain gets the cam and crank in time with each other. Take your time and clean the timing cover plate so you dont have any leaks . I love the fords but the water pump/timing cover leaks can be a pain if you just slap it together.

The O'ring around the distributor is stuck. Spray some WD40 around the shaft housing and let it set for a few minutes. That should loosen it up.

only if the cam and or block is broken. The aluminum will some times "weld" itself to the block. Try a propane torch (cover the fuel lines and pump) and it should pop right out.

I had one that jumped time and it didn't. It also needed quite a few other things and the engine was not even a year old. And I used to use Mobile one in it, I thought it would last longer.

throw that 351 piece of junk in the trash its just gunna keep causing you problems i have never worked on more cars in my life than fords and its one thing ive learned they are junk. so if you want a real motor you should pick up a GM motor because they are the easiest to work on and have the least amount of problems
