Penguin is Welsh. It comes from "pen" meaning head and "gwyn" meaning white. There are also geographical names and terms such as cwm (combe) and tor and I understand that bucket, car, crockery, noggin, gob, slogan and flannel, truant and gaol are also words of Celtic origin, although I have misgivings about "car", as it corresponds to the Latin "carrus" meaning cart. However, greater scholars than I are convinced otherwise.
