give an option to your family - you promise that you'll get grades up by studying more, and mean it when you tell them this, prove to them that you are serious. also, tell them if your grades start slipping they have every right to make you stop playing basketball, because your grades are more important. if you want to play basketball as a future profession, you still need a college education to fall back on and, imagine, how happy your family would be if you could obtain a scholarship because of your good grades. think of your priorities and you can have it all. good luck

Right now u would feel like concentrating on basket ball, but when u will not have any future in this field u will feel frustated. In india basket ball can never give u any job oppurtunity except that u can become a coach which is not paying , So make up ur mind that which is more important for u. And always remember one thing that parents are always right even if they seem wrong. They would want something good for u after all u are there child not enemy.

I do need more info. Are you very good at Basket Ball or you are trying to make team.
Your judgement may be clouded, so find out if you are or you have in you to reach your goal of playing professionally. If you have coach take his help in changing your parents view.
The most important thing is you do have to study and study hard to achieve your spots goal without studying hard you may not be able to make the teams ,to reach your goals.
Most player play up to age 30. That means you will need enough knowledge to go on with rest of your life, if you make enough money the you still need know how to manage or find some people to help you manage.
Knowledge is the king and only way is to acquire it is to study-study and study.

Are you in High School or College? What does your Coach say about the possibility of your getting a Scholarship with your Basketball skills? Are your grades suffering because of this extra curricular activity? If they are, then perhaps you do need to give it up for awhile, but if they are good grades, and you are good at the sport and have any kind of future in it, then I would perhaps have your coach talk to your parents and see if he can convince them to let you remain in basketball.

I guess you should carry on playing basket ball alongwith your studies. There is nothing to feel apprehensive on it. Plan your day in advance and fix the timings for your practicing basket ball and study seperately. make sure both the timings are not get clashed. When the time comes to make a choice, go for basket ball.

How much study do you need every day to get good grades!!
How much basketball practice do you need every day to become a good player!!
I know it first hand, you can manage both, just manage your schedule. Prepare a time table and follow it; you will be fine!!!

Both. Strike a compromise. Work extra time. Show good results in studies and show/convice your parents that you mean business.

Go with your soul! Don't' ignore your studies, but you have to follow your heart! If you don't, what will happen? You will always wonder "what if". That could lead to resentment towards your parents. You should explain this to them.
Good luck!

you can do both but don't let basketball keep you from your studies. just sit them down and let them know how you feel about it.
