I am a born again christian, and really and truly I am not intolerant of non believers.
my social circle ie my best mates in the world who I couldnt live withou include
hindus
muslims
homosexuals
and athestis(spelt wrong?)

i do not try and convert them or change them in anyway.
of course conversations turn to religion at times and them i give my views, as do they.
to be quite honest I personally believe that christians get a raw deal.
perhaps because we dont retaliate as vermently as some other's when our believe system is mocked.

we are not all God botherers/Bible bashers.
if someone wants my opinion on a religious subject I'll give it but most times it's ignored out of hand simply because it's a christian view. I have never forced my opinion on anyone.

I believe that God has chosen those who will get to know Him.
there are different types of people with different priorities concerning the spread of thier faith.
my sister in law gets on even my nerves!!!
she does not generally associate with non belivers (unless she is in a situation trying to preach God's Word)as she feels this would affect her way of life. that is her personal convictions.
they are not the same as mine or lillions others.

I believe that people should be able to see the way many christians live their lives and feel inspired to know God.
some do some dont. thats life

pls dont critise or condemm all christians in the same boat. just as most of us dont condemm non believers of believers of other faiths.
this is a multi cultural world and we have to accept everyone.
Let him without sin throw the first stone

I studied Theology for 3 years and know exactly what you mean, I was a kind of believer in religion until I actually studied it, then I found no basis that could actually be verified, proved or otherwise substantiated, I raised objections in class, but as my fellow students actually believed in this Theology I was not well received.
What I came to realise was that people do not except other religious failths or non-believers for 2 reasons:
- These religious people are not altogether sure of their faith, they want to believe, they are superstitious people and need something to believe in rather than face the fact that we live in a chaotic world that is not controlled

- Most religious believers have never actually studied/questioned their faith. If you question your faith you will need to take some rather disturbing leaps of faith.
This is why when these leaps of faith are brought into question by others, the religious person must shut them up and stop them questioning, lest they think themselves and find that there belief system is flawwed.
Religion is also an identity much like a national identity, it gives people who otherwise are unimportant or the normal people of society an identity and purpose and God help anybody who calls into question that identity.

The reason is that they are so indoctrinated by their religion they can't see past their noses. They won't, or can't accept that the Bible was not written by God but by man to frighten and empower. I respect anyone who doesn't believe and in fact my 'religion', or way of life, is spiritualism and we accept ALL religions in our churches because we believe we are all 'one'. They are so tied up with the fact that there is a Hell and those who don't believe are condemned to damnation that they want to 'save' them. If only they knew that Hell is a manmade concept for the same reasons as the Bible. There is a place, whether you call it Heaven, or spirit world as I call it where EVERYBODY goes. We are not punished, God loves us all. I will get off my soapbox now!!!!!!

i do no longer see all and distinctive in masterly debating. I see human beings belaboring their very own factors of view, me secure. regardless of each thing, I seen that i'm no longer as tolerant of the two the atheists or the Biblical literalists as i theory i'd be. Tolerance continues to be something to paintings on for me. at circumstances, i will only shine it on. of course, there are persons that are adamantly against non secular liberals & something with a clean Age attitude. they think of we are the biggest sinners of the international. Ah, properly. Too undesirable. often times i will only shine it on through fact there is no way i will substitute the two human beings.

If I understood your original question, it was "why can't people of faith accept non-believers right to that view point?"

As a Christian, I not only believe you have a right to your own viewpoint, I believe it is a God given right. I know that holds no water for you, but it does support your argument that Christians should follow Christ's example and respect their right not to believe.

Our leader and God, Jesus Christ, told us to tell everyone all over the world that God had built a bridge between Himself and humanity.

That should be where it ends. It is our responsibility to tell others, then let it go. God is responsible for the rest. If the seeds we sow are going to grow, it will be because God nurtures them.

When you see us going farther than we should, trying to convince, begging others to see what we believe is TRUTH, it is because we get our human emotions entangled with God's original directive. Not good.

God begs no one to come to Him. He doesn't threaten. He doesn't provoke. He just did what He did. He hung the Key to Heaven on the cross for all to receive, if they choose.

I love your searching spirit. You will be so rewarded for your sincere quest.

Hi, I am a Christian, and I believe I am tolerant of peoples views.

If God gave people freedom of choice, I think we should do the same.

When you say religion is responsible for wars, I feel this is incorrect. If everyone followed their religion properly there would be no wars. What I think causes wars, is peoples incorrect interpretation of their religion or perhaps just lack of study.
