My daughter is potty trained! she goes all day long by herself, no fuss no hassle, But doesnt tell me when she needs to go she just takes herself to the potty and goes. She is in day care 2 days a week due to me working and has to wear a nappy on these days as she doesnt tell anyone that she needs to go. Its great that she goes and its excellent not having to use nappies anymore. Any sugestions on how i can encourage her to tell me when she needs to go?

my daughter runs to the bathroom when she has to go sometimes she asks permission, sometimes she just yells at me that she has to go to the potty . My problem is that when she goes poo poo she likes to have the door closed and the lights off. We have to work on that one to get her to leave the light on.

I don't understand hon. If she goes all by herself, with no fuss or hassle, then she's not the problem, the daycare is. You need to tell the daycare she is able to do this on her own.

Perhaps someone needs to go with her as the bathroom is not close enough for her to go it alone at the daycare. In that case, tell your daughter she needs an escort to keep her safe to the potty, and to tell the daycare worker.

It might also be they aren't listening to her right away and so she had accidents ... it's easier for them just to change her diapers than to help her go potty.

It's good that your child can be so independant. I've a son that is the same age as yours, but still need to wear pampers. And not even train potty even he is now in childcare.

Maybe when you were training her, you taught her what to do but not how to express this verbally? Next time she takes herself off to the potty, go with her and talk to her about what she is doing and why so she knows it's OK to talk about it

a thought would be for the day care to keep asking her if she wants to go.... and if she says yes, then they tell her how she must ask so they can take her. it wouldn't be much effort on their part to do it... i'm surprised they haven't tried... but then again i'm not.
