Are they overzealous? They say that if you don't get bit then you are a true believer, but why would you put your life and health in danger like that? Or are they quack jobs for the above listed reason?

Definately overzealous!
Hey, Christian Scientists don't go to doctors and at least one faith is required to refuse whole blood transfusions.
Government sometimes steps in with children under 18.
I think the faithful should work on positive aspects, such as each taking a turn attempting to heal the dying with a touch to see if any of them can do it with the holy spirit when medicine says all is lost.

They have misunderstood Mark 16:17-18 and this to the exclusion of John 13:35.
They also probably have not come to know that those words found in Mark do not appear in the oldest Greek manuscripts.

I feel that the snakes are their business as long as they don't turn the snakes loose on the public bus. If one gets bitten and dies, that was their choice. I believe in freedom of religion.

I have mixed emotions. It's nice to have faith like that. But
we're not supposed to put our Creator to the test.
It would matter more to me what type of person he or she is.
Are they going to run around thinking they are above others
for what they do. Or does it bring them some kind of inner
peace to where they truly get along wth others?

they should know better than to tempt the lord their god. jesus was tempted by satan to jump off a cliff because the word said the angels would hold him up but he said that was tempting the lord. in the same way, these people use a scripture whose authenticity is questionable, but they Do it!

Maybe their sex lives aren't so exciting and they try to get something extra from their religious observance to compensate.
