I am not a Muslim so I don't know.

But if Mohammed says "the Koran is the word of God" and the Koran says "Mohammed is the prophet of God" and two of the central things to believe are the Koran and the Hadith...then they both rely on the other being true but neither can substantiate the other.

Also, since the Koran was written outside space and time (Muslims believe) there is no external evidence that can back it up. It is mainly admonitions and exhortations, with very, very little history compared to the Bible for example.

This makes Islam a leap of faith?

Ironically, the Muslim creed "There is no god but Allah andMohammed is his messenger" is a statement of fact...while there is no EVIDENCE for Islam. In Christianity the many varieties of creed all begin "I belive in god the Father..." "I believe in the Resurrection and the Life..." And yet the Bible is packed with verifiable stories. - verifiable by archaeology, eyewitness statements, other independent sources.

Thanks

I have been reading the Koran, I have been going to a Study Circle for Muslims. I am not a Muslim and am genuinely trying to understand more.

Why is it that Muslims (like a lot of you who answered) are immediately angry with me for "not knowing". I don't think you are very nice, or very good representatives of Islam.

Please, only responses from people who are not super-sensitive from now on.

OK: IMPORTANT

"Blue eyes Crying in the rain" is going to win this question unless there is a Muslim out there who is not biased against me because I'm asking questions. What are questions for if not to gain knowledge?

The answers given are either nasty (all those form Muslims) or narrow-minded (all those from people who say God doesn't exist and all religion is bad). Blue eyes gave the most trivial answer but not a negative one. I have spoken.

Muslims blieve that the god of Jesus is Allah and that the original scritures tell u that Jesus is nt the son of god bt a great prophet.
The bible has evolved over the last 2000 years so that mayb y every thin is so clear. bt that info is only my point of view. My best solution 4 u is to ask a muslim scholar in islam. islam is a huge subject and normal people who cannot answer just get angry n write rubbish like u said.

n e ways hope u find the truth! take my advice n dnt waste ur time here. good luck :)

Speaking of verification, maybe you should verify what you say before stating it in public.
Almost all historical stories that are mentioned in the bible, and that have been verified as you say, are also mentioned in Qur'an. Alongside with other scientific facts that were also verified later on through experiments and more advanced scientific equipment.
Your question is based on statements that are supposedly facts, yet in truth it is incorrect.
Unless you are really open to understanding the reasons and knowing the truth, I do not really get why you should waste your time on soemthing you do not believe in when you can invest it in obtaining the right information.

favourite Muslim? .. do you comprehend what a typical Muslim is? ( replying at somebody's answer)... Islam urges Muslims to learn what's around them, because of the fact the keys to existence lie in existence itself. Islam is a faith that is going with the human nature yet what it does is placed limits so human beings won't create feuds and corruption. in case you notice the bodies of adult males, their physique... and then be conscious the bodies of females and their physiques.. only be conscious and you will comprehend. actual Muslims do no longer deny the Quran errors, we have faith interior the perfection of God, and those are God's words how can there be errors. There ought to be errors in understanding the verses. Muslims at the instant are not ignorant, why do you think of they're? In Islamic history Muslims have been people who have been best the scientific paths for the era of of the international. DID YOU EVER think of WHY females and adult males ARE SEPARATED??.. i think of you are the only which is ignorant...

salam,
ur statement in itself shows how ignorant and biased u are in searching for the truth. for ur information, the history of how quran was collected was well documented. furthermore unlike the bible, the quran is still preserved in its original language and every quran in the world is identical either in meaning or in number of surah. unlike the bible which has thousands of different editions and standards..ie...the king james version not the same as new international version..etc..not to mention the many sects in christianity with each has its own version of the bible.in islam, there is a discipline totally dedicated to the study of quran which is called ulum al-quran that deal with the history,commentary,transliteration..etc..

hadith and sunnah has a role as to clear/explain the meanings some of the law or stories or etc. which are mentioned briefly in the quran.so who else can explain the meaning of the quran than the prophet muhammad SAW himself and he himself is the best of example? and so hadith are words of the prophet SAW while sunnah are the actions of the prophet SAW.one example how hadith and sunnah explains the quran is how we muslims pray.in the quran prayers are mentioned briefly and the quran didnt give any guide as to how to pray.thus came the role of prophet SAW as God's messenger to explain teaches us how prayer is done.

if creed u mean "i believe that...or i believe this.."..then islam have 2 pillars..one is the pillars of islam and the other is the pillars of faith.pillars of islam define what a muslim is. a muslim is a person who:

1.syahadah-declaration of faith
2.solat-prays 5 times a day
3.saum-fast in the month of ramadhan
4.zakat-giving alms to the poor
5.hajj-pilrimage to mecca

while the pillars of faith explains what a muslim MUST have faith in.simply mean that a muslim believe in:

1.Oneness of God
2.Angels since angels deliver revelations from God to the prophets.
3.The divine revelations (this includes the bible..tho muslims believe bible has been terribly altered by countless human hands)
4.Prophets sent by God
5.The hereafter
6.The divine will (Qadak and Qadar)

and if u want to compare the miracle the quran holds..u can checkout the website i provide. the true miracle of the quran is simply by reading it..no hocus pocus, no resurrection magic or any of that sort..since God say that man is His best creation and what differentiate man from beast is man's ability to use his intellect..God revealed the quran in such a way that when u read it..the quran will ask u to use that piece of meat we call brain...no 2 people have the same journey or comprehension when reading the quran...reading it is a spiritual and personal journey to find God...so if u are indeed truthful and if u are sincere in finding the truth..try reading it..afterall there's nothing for you to lose if u are indeed on the side of truth.

wassalam

The Qur'an was written with very, very little history to it? I'm sorry have you read the Qur'an at all? As far as I know, it has all the goodness the Bible has and more. The Qur'an also does not speak lowly of any prophet as the Bible does. And guess what, we pretty much have the same prophets but the big difference is our prophets were men of high regard and good role models for Muslims from any generation in time.

And do u know how many inaccuracies hav been found in different version of the bible.
If not, please dont comment bout The Qur'an.

The Quran has historical, scientific and archaeological evidence. But then you have not read the Quran so you make statements about something that you are not aware of.The living evidence of the Quran will be revealed and shown to you in time i hope you will not be blind enough to recognize the Savior and his message of Islam.
