If you have to deal with them, you need to be creative in how you kiss up. The trick is to knock them out of their comfort zone with an innocent question or remark. Remember they are people; if they lord their power over you it means they really don't understand how to use their power efficiently. Sometimes a good indirect suggestion makes them realize that you're worthy of their respect. Finally exercising power is pleasurable; you need to make it clear that what you want is easy for them to do (but oh so hard for you to do), so they use their power to further your cause.

If one of them ever becomes sober you can point out the differences in the behavior between sober and being drunk & perhaps this will have an effect on them. It's is sad to say though that tihs type of addiction it is rare to see a person recover from it. About the only thing you can do is pray for them other than that my other suggestion is this. Get a copy of the book Alcoholics Anonymous and read it. It applies here also as all addictions affect a person to the same depths.

Here's what i do in that situation, i make comments like i know you have had a hard life and i am sorry for you, and i smile at them in front of other people , then when they are rude to me after that other people start to notice there behavior and steer clear of them........just kill them with kindness it works every time !
