If there isn't a God and there is no religion then why do you get all upset on this site with Christians that don't exist. Or Muslims or Jews or what ever 'you say there is no religion. I don't believe that herbal medacine works but I don't argue with herbelest people.

That's what I'm talking about , I am comfortable with Christianity and I don't need you to believe me, and its a free world. If I believe something doesn't exist I won't waste my time arguing about it.

Exactly what kind of logic are you using? How would the nonexistence of God imply that atheists think that religions do not exist?

As for your comment about Herbalists -- if Herbalists were trying to pass a law that your children had to take herbalist medicines in your school -- you would start arguing with them in a heartbeat.

When Christians stop trying to turn their religion into laws, atheists will stop arguing with them.

These are generalizations, but since the group is under generalized beliefs they usually apply.

Christians: If they would stop trying to push their ridicules beliefs into things like science class, I wouldn't have a problem with them. In general I think Christianity has a positive effect on the world, but they really do push their beliefs in a non-positive way.

Muslims: If they would stop killing people and each other in the name of their religion, I wouldn't have a problem with them. This problem is not just with the west. A very high percentage of conflicts right now is because of this religion. If you want a list I can provide it. This is greatly compounded by the lack of any real counter movement in the faith. I have only heard two speak against it without making excuses for it. What I see all the time is them on this forum whining about the fact that I see them this way, but not about the people who cause them to be seen that way.

I really can't say that I have a problem with Jews. We disagree, and I am willing to debate that. But I really don't see them trying to push things on me.

I would argue with the herbalist because they prevent people from seeking real help and that isn't cool. I do think you should tell people when they are being irrational.

There is no God. We did not claim that there is no religion because there are religions (i.e. the BELIEF in supernatural or supreme being and the practices that goes with it). We argue because, most of the time, it is a hindrance to the development of science and the progress of humans. Wouldn't you argue with the herbalist if the herbal medicine would cause the death of the patient?

First of all, who is saying that there is no religion? Just because we don't believe in god, doesn't mean that we don't belive christians or jews or muslims exist. That's just absurd.

We are not arguing. But often enough, atheists get brushed off as being condemned to hell or poor angry souls who refuse to accept god or without any morals. And often enough, many quote the bible as if it were 100% factual. We are merely trying to explain how and why we use reason instead of faith.

The day atheists leave you to your religion is the day YOU keep religion OUT of government, OUT of the law, OUT of schools, and OUT of the public square. In case you haven't figured it out for yourself (or perhaps you aren't smart enough) a secular society IS NOT an atheist society.

Having no religion in the government protects ALL religions. If you think one religion should be in control, then you had best shut up when muslim countries make non-muslim religions illegal...or are you a hypochristian?

You religious types try to put your filth - oops, faith - where it doesn't belong and then you wonder why there's a backlash. You're like the sort of "man" who grab women's butts and then wonder why the women get angry and slap you or kick you in the balls. Just as men who behave civilly and don't make sexist remarks don't get kicked in the balls, the christians who keep their religion to themselves are never criticized.

You DO NOT have a "right" to proselytize and impose your cultists views on those who don't want them. Or to paraphrase an old legal maxim, "Your ability to speak a bible tract ends at the lobes of my ears."

Oh, maybe it's because they are trying to force the modern world back into the dark ages with their way of thinking? Are you saying I should just sit back in my own little world and watch it happen? Get real, the modern world is of very real consequence to me.

Medicine and religion are two seperate things. As I said, dark ages, you're gonna tell me next that you consider herbal medicine and aromatherapy to be forms of witchcraft.

:::omg I can't believe I missed that bit, you think that atheists don't believe that religions exist? xD Duh, okay, I'll just ignore all the invistable people. What a nut job.

Because we don't like having religion shoved down our necks...

... And because some of us are happy with our rationality... and rightly view irrational people (like christians) as being incapable of making sensible decisions about what should and should not be done... Since religious people rely on scripted morality to dictate what they should and should not do.... and it is fact that the bible is inconsistant in that respect, often depicting the monotheists' god as actually advocating murder and torture in some circumstances..... its hardly surprising that we should consider christians a threat: not to our beliefs.... but to our physical health.

Afterall.... if a person cannot realise for themselves that actions have reactions... that every course taken in life has consequences, some of which can be destructive in many ways... then their judgement cannot be trusted, and nor can we trust that we will be safe around them. "Moral" people are dangerous... because a strict moral mind-set can be used to justify all kinds of atrocities.... Morality is responsible for the bombing of the world trade centre on the 11th of September, 2001 .... just to cite one example.
That sort of thing wouldn't happen without religion.

How can you possibly be surprised that we athiests, antitheists and the like want to rid the world of religion?

Religious belief has very real and very serious consequences in the world. If we got rid of religion then some of those problems would go away. Hence some of us feel a responsibility to challenge religious belief and try to guide people towards a more rationally justifiable worldview.

The herbalist aren't forcing their "cures" into medicine and requiring that you take it regardless whether you believe in it or not.
