Okay, I looked it up in two different English translations (sorry, I don't speak Arabic).
10:3 says "Lo! your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days..."
41:9-12 says He created the earth in two days, then filled it with blessings and all things to provide nourishment in the next four days, then spent an additional two days creating the seven heavens. 2+4+2=8. (But then, Muslims say that Christians believe that 1=3=1, so it seems that we can't do arithmetic, either.)
Okay, so it does appear that we have a discrepancy over the creation of the heavens. Probably someone who speaks Arabic could look it up -- it might be a translation error.
Or, maybe it really is a discrepancy. The Bible is full of them, and bible scholars admit it without question. Most Christians understand the Bible as written by human beings who were inspired by God. The Bible needs to be read and understood within its historical context. Islam teaches that the Koran is a perfect dictate directly from God, which is why most Muslims don't understand why we Christians can easily shrug off the many discrepancies in the Bible. An undeniable discrepancy in the Koran could bring down Islam! But then, there is always someone who can find a way to deny the undeniable.
For example, when Gabriel appears to Mary (Mariam in the Koran) and asks her to be the mother of Jesus, he addresses her as "sister of Moses" (who by the way lived about 1600 years earlier). Mariam, Miriam -- it's an easy mistake to make. But Muslims say no, Gabriel was only COMPARING her to Miriam.
The Koran also says the pharaoh's baker was crucified. Crucifixion was an invention of the Roman Empire, again some 1500 or more years after Joseph interpreted the baker's dream. The Bible says the baker was "impaled upon a stake." Crucified, impaled -- whatever. Not sure how the Muslims explain this one.
Personally I think these discrepancies are somewhat interesting, but it's a waste of time to nit-pick on little, unimportant details like this. The biggest difference I see is the perception of God's love. The Koran lists 22 types of sinners that Allah does not love -- Allah loves not the unjust; Allah loves not the glutton, etc. Most of us are just sometimes, and unjust other times; gluttons sometimes, and not gluttons other times. So, does Allah only love us when we're being good? Does he withdraw his love from us when we eat too much? Does it turn on and off like a faucet? Is His love conditional?
This is a huge difference between Islam and Christianity. Christianity teaches that God's love is infinite, unconditional, and eternal. God loves us no matter what. God is just, so he holds us accountable for our actions, but he never ever ever stops loving us.
This is the basic difference between our two faiths.

Thank you for this question.
Actually whoever and wherever you get your Qur'an quotes from leaves out the 1400 some odd years of commentary that have gone on. Do you honestly think that this question has not been asked and answered in the 1400 years? It is YOU who should move on.
The accepted commentary on the question you ask is that verses 41:9 and 41:10 are talking about a continuous process. That of the formation of the earth. Read it carefully and you will see that. Therefore the two days spoken about in 41:9 are included in the 4 days spoken about in 41:10. Then there is a break in 41:11 and the two days for creation of the heavens is in 41:12. Therefore 4 plus 2 equals 6 days.
This commentary has been around a long time, but those that want you to speak out like this will not tell you about it. They are banking on your ignorance and the ignorance of the general Muslim population as well. (as evidenced by many of the unfortunate answers from my Muslim brothers and sisters above). It actually is a good question, but exigesis of the Qur'an involves more intellectual process than is usually displayed.
Be careful of those who have easy answers whether you agree with them or not.
And Allah knows best.
Peace and Blessings, the people of this world are sick and tired of hatred and war, hear that President Bush and Osama Bin Laden.

This is simply a case of "Our religion is better than yours" and has no real backing behind it.
Also, you're saying that the Islam holy books contradict each other? Genesis contradicts itself in the first 2 chapters by saying that man and woman were created on the 6th day and then claiming that the first man was created after the first 7 days of the universe.
Also the Bible is pretty clear on it being 6 days and not "periods" as you've stated. It states that the 7 days were to be used as a model for the 7 day week. If we used a model where each day was upto billions of years then we'd be resting a lot less often.

to all my respect to you, but who do you call false religion when we worship one God and you worship three heads of God? .
and if you have doubt that ur God is Allah, then go to this Aramaic dictionary and type down the word God, Allah is the God that Jesus used to worship.

for 10:3. and 41:9-12. no errors on it. both of them indicate 6 days. however the 41:9-12 talk about details such as the total number for earth creation is 4 + 2 days to divide heavens in 7 layers.

You must be jocking. 1) It was never mentioned in the Qoran that God created the world in 8 days. It was mentioned one in 6 days and the second time God said He created the world in two days and set its resources in 4 days, or tell them (the people) in 6 days it is the same. I don't know what are you reading from but the Qoran comes only in Arabic language and any other language it is not the Qoran it's a translation of what it means. The Qoran is too sophsticated for any one to translate it and claim he did good. God dares anyone to be able to write a similar book, It sounds beautiful in Arabic language.
If you notice envy inside you towards Muslims, please know that deep inside you know they're in a better position than you or you wouldn't envy them for what they have. Jesus the son of God is the biggest lie in history. If Jesus is the son of God why wouldd he eat or sleep. God never gets tired or hungry, never sat but he floated on his thron on the 7th day unlike the Bible who says that God sat to rest. Rest??!! God can't be touched or seen (yet) He never needed anybody and never will. You want to tell me that God worked as a carpertner to earn money to eat? God is much much greater than that. God created Jesus like He created Adam. And don't tell me Adam sined because if Adam was God he wont sin since God is the one who sets wrongs and rights. Ask all the Christians you meet, Who created the Univers? They'll all tell you God no one will tell you Jesus.
NB: If you report this as abuse, I'll live the next months just to report you nothing else. Don't you think we know what you're doin?

I AM ABLE TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS:-
1. Heavens and the Earth created in Six days
I do agree that the Qur’an says that the heavens and the earth were created in 6 days i.e. 6 epochs and it is mentioned in
Surah Al A’raf chapter 7 verse 54
Surah Yunus chapter 10 verse 3
Surah Hud chapter 11 verse 7
Surah Al Furqan chapter 25 verse 59
Surah Al Sajdah chapter 32 verse 4
Surah Qaf chapter 50 verse 38
Surah Al Hadid chapter 57 verse 4
The verses of the Qur’an which according to you say that the heavens and the earth were created in 8 days are Surah Fussilat chapter 41 verses 9 to 12
"Say: Is it that ye deny Him Who created the earth in two days? And do ye join equals With him? He is the Lord of (all) the Worlds;
He set on the (earth) mountains standing firm, High above it, and bestowed blessings on the earth, and measured therein all things to give them nourishment in due proportion, In four days, in accordance with (the needs of) Those who seek (sustenance)."
Moreover, He Comprehended in His design the sky, and it had been (as) smoke. He said to it and to the earth. "Come ye together, willingly or unwillingly. They said: "We do come (Together), in willing obedience."
So He completed them as seven firmaments in two days and He assigned to each heaven its duty and command and We adorned the lower heaven with lights, and (provided it) with guard. Such is the decree of (Him) the exalted in might, full of knowledge."
[Al-Qur’an 41:9-12]
On the face of it, it seems that these verses of the Qur’an give the initial impression that the heavens and the earth were created in 8 days.
Allah says in the beginning of this verse that those who exploit this information contained in this passage to raise doubts about its authenticity are equally interested in promulgating blasphemy and denying His unity. Allah is telling us that in course of time, there will emerge unbelievers who will make use of this apparent contradiction.
2. Summa means moreover
If you analyse these verses carefully, it speaks about 2 different creations: the earth and the heaven. The earth excluding the mountains was created in 2 days and the mountains were set on the earth standing firm and blessed and measured its sustenance in 4 days. Therefore the earth along with the mountains was created in 6 days according to verse 9 and 10. Verse 11 and 12 says, moreover the heavens were created in 2 days. The Arabic word used in the beginning of verse 11 of Surah Fussilat is summa which means; ‘then’ or ‘moreover’. There are certain Qur’anic translations, which have, used ‘then’ for the word summa which, indicates ‘afterwards’. If ‘then’ is wrongly used for summa then the total of the creation of heaven and earth will be 8 days which will conflict with other verses of the Qur’an which says heavens and earth were created in 6 days and will also conflict with the Big Bang Theory as well as the verse of the Qur’an Surah Al Ambiya chapter 21 verse 30 which says that heavens and the earth were created simultaneously.
Therefore the correct translation of the word summa in this verse would be ‘moreover’. Abdullah Yusuf Ali has rightly translated the word summa or moreover which clearly gives an indication that while the earth along with the mountains, etc. was created in 6 days simultaneously the heavens were created in 2 days. Therefore the total does not come to 8 days but 6 days.
If a builder says that he will construct a 10 storey building and surrounding compound wall in 6 months and after completion of his project he gives a more detailed account saying that the basement of the building was built in 2 months and the 10 storeys took 4 months and simultaneously, while the basement and the building was being constructed, he also constructed the surrounding of the building along with the compound wall which took 2 months. Therefore both his first and second descriptions are not contradicting but the second statement gives a more detailed account for the construction.
3. Heavens and the Earth created simultaneously
The Qur’an describe the creation of the universe in several places, sometimes it says the heavens and the earth (7:54, 10:3, 11:7, 25:59, 32:4, 50:38, 57:4) while in other places it says earth and the heaven (49:9-12, 2:29, 20:4) thus further supplementing the verse of Surah Al Ambiya chapter 21 verse 30 which speaks about the Big-Bang and that the heavens and the earth were created simultaneously.
Similarly in Surah Al-Baqara chapter 2 verse 29
"It is He Who hath created for you all things that are on earth; Then He turned to the heaven and made them into seven firmaments. And of all things He hath perfect knowledge."
[Al-Qur’an 2:29]
"It is who has created for you all things on the earth summa simultaneously made the heaven into seven firmaments".
Here also if you wrongly translate summa as ‘then’ only then would this verse contradict the Big-bang theory and other verses of the Qur’an. Therefore the correct translation of the word summa is ‘moreover’ or ‘simultaneously’.
I HOPE I HAVE ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION

all the prophets loved everybody, even you. only God can save you, not a prophet. a prophet's job is delivering the message. it's up to you as to how you live your life. On judgement day who will condem you to heaven or hel (providing you believe in that in the first place)? God or Jesus? And if you say Jesus, then why do we need God? what is His role in all this. you people have it all wrong. Jesus can neither save nor condem you, only God can.
Every time i read a "christian" message, it makes me so glad that i am not one anymore!! Allahu Akbar!

Muslims do love Prophet Isa or as you call him, Jesus (pbuh). In fact, we love all our prophets as the Qur'an does not speak lowly of any of them as the Bible does (2 can play this game)
In the Bible, Jesus said:
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. (Matthew 10:34)
The days of creation represent a yardstick. Thus, the physical universe was created in two days, while the calculation of provisions for all the creatures on earth required four. This also teaches us that there is life only on this planet Earth.
