Ok.....my girlfriend has had the hardest year of her life, she was knocked over by a speeding driver and nearly killed in June of this year, spent 3 months in hospital.......besides that while she was in her hospital bed her boyfriend (now ex obviously) was cheating on her...

Luckily, she is making a full recovery and is now walking ok, without crutches.
I really want to buy her something special and meaningful but like a lot of men im crap at buying gifts.....ive been with her a month too so its early days....

Its her 20th birthday on the 19th of November
any suggestions on what i can buy her or where i should take her?

these are really beautiful (Hot Diamonds silver necklaces) and they come in an expensive looking box too.

They are a really good company, I've had things from there in the past and hot diamonds is a very nice brand.

depends on personal choice. Best presents I've received over the years are:
-personalised to me
-thoughtful
-not that expensive

Recently: an Ipod with all of my favourite music downloaded and installed on it..with a case matching my favourite bag.
This proved he didn't just pop into a shop and buy something without thinking...I know, not that cheap but it's an idea.

Take her somewhere that can be special to you both in future...ie: a nice spot on the river or in a park that you can revisit.
Prepare some food, drinks so you aren't bothered by waiters or risk crappy service or food in a restaurant.
Avoid London Eye...nothing less romantic than being crammed in a bubble with 10 other tourists!!

Am sure all the thought you are putting into this will pay off and she will appreciate whatever you get :-) She's a lucky girl

You need to give her some fun time. If you have an aquarium or perhaps some type of fun hands on place (museum or zoo) where kids and adults go try one of those. But you need to make it enjoyable for her so play with her, I know it sounds cheesy and lame but it worked for me...it still does. That'd be during the day. Find out what her favorite food is and either take her out to dinner or if you can (and it'll really impress her) cook for her, rent a movie and play a board game. Now, if you take her to one of the fun places, then see if they have one of those picture booths and get pics done...or bring a camera and take pics...then pick your fav picture of the two you and frame it for her...it's a perfect gift for early on in the relationship. Or buy her something cheap but cute from wherever you go(stuffed animal, jewelry- like the little stuff with her name on it that's like $10..lol). Then she has something to always remember that day. You don't want something too extravagant cause it's so early on, it may scare her so take things easy. Laughter is the best medicine, even though she's doing better...it's still best to make her laugh and have fun as much fun as possible! Best of luck!

Well she has had a hard life, so maybe diamond earrings or a gold bracelet. If she likes to travel take her on a cruise, even in the country isn't that expensive. You can never go wrong with chocolate and flowers, too, but I would try to find out what shes allergic to because that could be embarrassing if you give her something she's allergic to.

Definately something she can keep, like jewelry. It soesn't have to cost the earth, just really think about what she's into jewelry wise. A nice locket might be nice, with your pictures in, or you could get something engraved with a really special message for her. I know I'd love that! Glad to hear she's doing better now, make this a birthday where she'll forget everything that's happened, and just look forward to another (much better!) year...with you!

Why don't you cook her a nice romantic meal that way she knows you put in a lot of thought and care into what you are doing. How about something Personal rather than a CD or DVD is there anyone she was close to that isn't around anymore like a grandparent, see if you can dig out a photo and put it in a nice frame so she can have a nice memory, again you'll be showing your caring side and that you put some thought into your present. whatever you decide to do good luck.

Well just buy her something meaningful, not just clothes. If you have an "inside joke" then use that. Try to make this birthday a "special one" and remember to not overdue it. Some nice jewelry or a charm bracele or something along those lines. (I think if e you have a budget a GIANT teddy bear would be in order.) Just think long and hard and think of something meaningful and sweet (cough cough chocolates.) Hope this helps!

Sometimes it's the simple things that count. Since you've only been seeing each other for a short while, I wouldn't go with an expensive gift, but if you can cook, a really nice romantic dinner and flowers would be great. If you can't cook, take her somewhere special for dinner.

A pretty necklace , some silver earings, maybe a cute little kitten or puppy. I would reccomend kitten since they do not require as much training ( etc.) for when she recovers. that would be a good present. something for her to cuddle ( besides you , lol) and make her smile. did you try a ring or other jewlery tied onto the strings of baloons for a (weight) for her to find? that would turn a lame , same ol` same ol` gift into a surprise!

she obviously needs a good pampering-what about a day at a health and beauty spa or a voucher for pampering session. take your time and look for a card that really has meaningful verses or if you are in anyway poetic-make your own!give her a lasting memento also.this need not be expensive jewellery but something sweet and meaningful e.g. one of those little 'guardian angel' pins.good luck
