According to research, toddlers need to be on Homo milk (or whole milk) because of all the fatty acids that aid in brain growth and development. Whole milk is a good option for toddlers over age 12 months who aren't breastfeeding and who aren't drinking a toddler formula. According to the AAP, these young children need calories from fat for growth and brain development, and this is especially important in the first 2 years of life.
The only other real benefit of whole milk over low fat milk is that many people do think it tastes better, so for kids who don't get used to low fat milk and simply refuse to drink it, whole milk may be the only way that they will drink any milk at all.
Although the AAP touts the benefits of whole milk for younger toddlers, they do say that 'after age 2, you can switch your toddler to skim or low-fat milk, like the rest of the family.'

Do not use 2%, 1% or skim milk before 2 years of age. Babies need the higher fat in homo milk for proper growth and brain development

Well you dont want to take them off Homo (homoginized milk) , Is your question when to take them off whole milk? If so most pediatrcains recommend between 18 & 24 months. That is when a baby no longer requires the added fat.

Did you ever notice that humans are the only ones who drink milk their entire lives? Even baby cows are weaned off it at a certain age and don't drink it anymore. Makes me wonder if it's really that healthy a food item or is it just the dairy industry creating a market for their product.

We stored our young ones on finished diet D milk (i anticipate that's what you advise via **** milk?) for the finished first 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. After that, we switched them to 2%. youngsters choose the healthful fat attainable in milk, so except they're obese to start with (some youngsters are recently, and their pediatricians have them on skim), your infants ought to in all probability survive finished or 2% for various greater years.

At age 2 they recommend 1 percent or skim milk. However, my daughter's doctor suggested keeping her on it because she grew more height-wise at her last visit than she did weight-wise. But WIC told me she didn't have to stay on the whole milk, she could have an extra snack during the day for the extra calories instead.

Age two, if your child is developmentally normal. If you have had illness with your child, or they are a bit behind in developing, I'd say stick with it until age 3.

Also, a lot of times, it's cheaper than 2% lol

Once a human baby is weaned, there is no reason to give cows milk. Do you know how much saturated fat is in milk? yes, kids and adults need fat but they need GOOD fats..not saturated fats.
