You are ABSOLUTELY right! People seem to just go along with the flow and believe what their families or the majority of population believe, without questioning or checking up on it themselves. If you are a true christian, then you certainly SHOULD prove to yourself the existence of God and what is written about him and concerning his teachings. God wants to be searched for and found.....not blindly accepted!
I felt the same way you did until I finally found the true/pure church of God that actually has scripture to back up its claims! I thank the Lord for that.
It's very good of you to have spoken out about this matter. =]

People... anyone here ever read Tom Robbin's Skinny Legs and All? Can o' Beans there said something about religion weakening a man's sense of reason (and politics, his sense of morality). I think blind faith will do that.
We don't have God's booming voice direct from heaven right now. What we have is the Bible (or Q'ran or whatever doctrine you follow), the evangelists or prophets or disciples (some of which are a bit on the loony side) and all the other people in between and in the sides. We have to be careful in what we believe in. Most of these religions are hundreds if not thousands of years old, and if you've ever played the game "Pass the Message" you have an idea how mixed up this gets. Plus, there's been a whole lot of politics (and capitalism?) involved in these religions so... stick to what makes good sense to you. Do research, observe, learn from life and live like a decent human being should.

Understanding and questioning are two different things. First, we can never figure out God because he is too far above us. We should concentrate on obeying his Word as given in the Bible. Second, to question God's motives is to challenge his authority and this is blasphemy. It places the questioner above God. This is what Satan is trying to do and he has already been condemned to eternal damnation for it. Any one who follows in his footsteps without repenting is subject to the same fate.

I agree. To question is a natural process. How can you understand fully if you do not question?! I have questioned my belief many time but I feel that I am stronger for that. I have studied different religions and their beliefs. This gives me deeper understanding of the whoile system of belief.
If the narrow minded people dont want to question, their minds are closed to many things in my opinion, especially to the higher understanding of their God (whatever name they call him by!)>

Hi, I am Rational Spirituality,
I am one of those people who believe that anything that cannot stand questioning is of a questionable value, itself.
I do not believe that God feels offended by someone questioning him, I believe that, with the entry into the Spiritual Age, he is inviting humanity to seek answers about Him, the Universe and about everyone's place in it, directly from Him.
I was given all the answers to all the questions I ever had, by my Divine Guide, and I believe it to be God's will that people ought to turn directly to Him, rather than using intermediaries, who may have a vested interest to convey only information that suits them.
You may read Rational Spirituality on the Dhaxem website, and if anything was to remain still unclear, please ask me, or seek additional answers through your own connection with God.
Only conveyed in February 2006, Rational Spirituality is already changing the lives of many genuine and thinking people with God and Christ in their hearts.

I agree. Didn't Jesus as he was nailed to the cross. Didn't he ask '' why hast thou forsaken me ''? To not wonder about these things is to walk blind. If the radical Islamics questioned a little about their religion and teachings, there would surely be less suicide bombings, etc. Did you notice how I said ''RADICAL '' ? I wasn't trashing the whole religion, just the radical element.

where did our ability to think and question come from if not god? questioning an established religion is not the same as questioning god.
it's pretty arrogant to consider them one and the same. anyone remember jim jones? someone should have been asking questions then instead of blindly following because someone said that it was god's will.

Yeh look I am in total agreeance with you..
You have to question things, especially if they dont sit right with you. To believe everything that is layed before you as the only way is somewhat naive.

I think the "how dare you questions" arise when people feel that God is being disrespected. I think it's okay to ask questions as long as it's not insulting or disrespected.
