We will be sitting at the dinning room table and he will start laughing and can't l stop. He 1st starts to say "my friend is so funny" but I think this is a cover up? then he laughs really hard looking at the dog but the dog is just sitting there doing nothing. He usually does this when he is having his bed time snack. Not too worried about it, just wondering if anyone has kids that does this.

I wouldn't worry about it, just enjoy hearing your child's laughter. There is so much badness and meanness in the world, to hear a child laugh is like music to my ears. He sounds like a very happy boy to me.

My kids usually have done this when they were overtired - or one gets really nervous when she's done something wrong and it comes out as a strange almost hysterical laughter. Pediatrician says it is a "coping mechanism" for her.

I too get silly and laugh at minor things when I'm overtired. However, with kids it seems to be more a matter of their not being in complete control of their emotions yet - whether that's laughter, or anger, or sadness, etc. Your son may just had a very full and busy day (for a 7-year old, that is) and he's more tired than you think by the time it gets to "bed-time snack" time? Seems like that's what happens with my youngest 3 girls and they get the serious giggles!

P.S. You must be doing something right to have a happy kid! Good for you!

My daughter does that also i think it just tiredness.. Laughing is always good for the soul. My daughter sniffed her toes the other night and couldn't stop laughing. I'm just grateful she is a happy kid and can laugh at herself and allows me to laugh along with her.Maybe the dog had a funny look your son caught at the moment and found it very amusing. He sounds like a great kid and when he's laughing and smiling be happy yourself its when they get quiet thats when you should worry. Good Luck :) and have lots of laughs before they grow up and get serious..:)

My son used to do that when he was younger. He is now 11 and still does the same thing only it occurs when he is with his friends and they are making wierd noises. Thank the powers that be for the healthy, happy and positive child you have. Good work!

It's just a stage he's going through. Join in with him next time. He's probably trying to prolong bed time.
