U r a Sikh is the first step of acknowledgement.
Listen to what ur parents have taught u, and how much u can implement.
Every religion teaches a few basic things
1-Respect ur elders
2-Honour ur commitment -towards ur - family, occupation and religious place.
3-Keep ur religion amonst you and not talk vaguely in public and do not critise any religion.
Do a seva in a Gurudwara ner ur place u will enjoy.

The word 'Sikh' in the Punjabi language means 'disciple', Sikhs are the disciples of God who follow the writings and teachings of the Ten Sikh Gurus. The wisdom of these teachings in Sri Guru Granth Sahib are practical and universal in their appeal to all mankind.
