Few of the neo-Pagan religions require people to be vegetarians or vegans; certain traditions or sects might, but they tend to be fairly small. Some religions may have prohibitions against specific *types* of food, especially in certain circumstances, but again, you're more apt to see this on the tradition level.
That said, there's a number of Pagans who are vegetarian or vegan, as a personal choice, often due to their religious beliefs. At the same time, there's a number of Pagans who are decidedly omnivores, as a personal choice, due to their religous beliefs. There's enough different interpretations that both are possible.

I'd say they're more likely to be because paganism often has a great emphasis on the environment and the natural world. But nowhere have i heard that people are not considered pagan just because they eat meat. May depend on the particular branch of paganism, for example wicca.

I am pagan and I eat lots of meat. It is a personal choice. however some vegetarians can be as evangical about their belief not to eat meat as Christians can be about their faith. Just as forceful to. Notice I said some, not all and not even the majority, but some.

Eat what you want, not what your "religion" wants.
If you want to eat meat and the religion you choose does not allow it - so what? If you believe that it is okay to eat meat, follow that religion but eat meat anyway.
If you want a religion where you can follow all the rules, choose a religion that has the same values as you.
Alternatively, you could just keep your own beliefs and morals, and not join an organized religion. Don't think that non-religious means a lack of all beliefs and morals.

Heck yeah! Most of our holidays involve feasting, and there are lots of recipes for different meat dishes for the various holidays. I agree with the comment that I think you're getting pagans and vegans mixed up.

uh....yeah...we eat meat....beef..pork...fish...chicken...goat...turkey
you name it. Ther are some that are vegetarians...but that is NOT a requirement. Although there are a higher percentage of vegetarians among the pagans than among other religious groups it is more a by-product of personal interpretation rather than any sort of requirement.

there are this manner of super sort of categories of Pagans and Heathens and all of us have our very own way of doing issues. to a pair Pagans ingesting an animal would be like ingesting a brother or sister. To others, it is only area of cycle of existence. i'm a Nordic Heathen (Forn Sed) and my boyfriend is a Finnish Pagan (Taivaannaula) and we are the searching, fishing and elevating of our very own foodstuff animals varieties. (nonetheless everyone who tries to consume Harald, my puppy pygmy goat, is going to awaken lifeless and buried in one among my vegetable gardens) regardless of the undeniable fact that, subsistence searching is extremely ordinary in our respective residing house countries of Norway and Finland. I even have observed that US Pagans are extra in all probability to be vegetarian or vegan than the Pagans of countries the place subsistence searching is the two ordinary or an person-friendly necessity. subsequently i think it somewhat is only as plenty a cultural and financial situation because it somewhat is a non secular situation. I certainly have met so plenty extra vegetarians interior the U. S. than in all probability exist in all of Norway, Pagan or no longer. Edit: Labgrrl, we are going out berry figuring out on later as we talk! we've some wild blackberry trees interior the woodland at the back of my residing house, a number of that are basically obtainable from the midsection of a creek. those are the juiciest, ultimate berries. i'm the only one interior the residing house easy adequate to stand on the tiny little raft and attain those berries, so my boyfriend will tie a rope to one end and permit me drift right down to all the ultimate berries to p.c.., then haul me lower back upstream whilst i'm finished or I fall in - whichever comes first! the two way, there will be blackberry kahlua cream pie on our kakebord in a pair days and an astounding sort of jam to present travellers or to commerce by potential of summer season's end.

Paganism has absolutely nothing to do with diet and everything to do with honouring the Earth and her cycles. Are you not getting pagans confused with vegans?

It depends on what pagan religion you belong to. The term "pagan" is kinda vague on it's own.
