Tomorrow (actually today, I can't sleep) my husband and I are taking our 2 year old daughter to Disneyland for her 2nd birthday. I have heard horror stories about taking young toddlers to Disneyland, but I have also heard good stories too. She doesn't really scare easily, so I'm not too worried about that, she isn't shy, BUT she is VERY active and doesn't like to sit/stand still, even for short periods. This concerns me when it comes to waiting in line, because I know you can't bring a stroller in line. Just the other day at a bakery we had to wait in line for about 10 minutes and she didn't want us to hold her (was like pushing herself off of us) and when it came to standing in line she would for a minute or so but then got sick of holding our hands and kept trying to run off. We are strict with her, but she has a speech delay and isn't talking much yet, so it's a challenge. Any advice or suggestions for how to make our day run as smoothly as possible?? Thanks!

Snacks to distract her while you are waiting! You may be lucky and not run into a lot of long lines since it's not really a holiday or time off from school for most people. She will most likely get overwhelmed by all the stuff going on and even if she doesn't scare easily the very large (and friendly) characters may be a little much at first. Try and take lots of breaks between rides...letting her run around, there is plenty of room to get out built up energy!

"If you are traveling with toddlers, you'll want to visit Fantasyland first thing in the morning, as several popular kids' rides in that area, especially Dumbo and Peter Pan, have low capacities and built long waits early in the day. Note: during the 50th anniversary celebration Fantasyland closes the rides about thirty minutes before the fireworks start. If not, head west to Adventureland and New Orleans Square when the park opens, visiting the Indiana Jones Adventure and Splash Mountain, then doubling back to the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean."

I went to Disneyland for my forth birthday and I loved it unfortunately I only remember some bits and mostly one was my brother being sick in the pool and us diving down collecting the chunks gross I know...

I took my husband for his 30Th and we loved it.. weekdays are best nice and quite and you get to go on all the rides without lines.. she will be able to get her face painted and you can maybe by her something to dress up in .. take lots of photos cause she wont remember lots of it which is a shame.. try taking her again when she is 7 -12

she is far too young for disneyland. why not do an age appropriate event for her?

let me guess - she's in day care, so you don't know what's age appropriate.

this is a very silly vacation for a two year old. a huge waste of money.

if she is in day care, spend your time off just being with her.

besides, disney is a right wing propaganda mill right now, why give them your money?
