How do you think this would impact them as Christians? Meaning, do you think it is acceptable to practice their old ways of healing while embracing Christianity?

That physical healig would disappear. One of the things about converting to Christianity is the requirement to foresake all other religious and spiritual beleifs and ideas (although not all converts adehre to that as much as the church would like them to, or would like us to believe that they do).

There are laws in some places (Brazil for one, that absolutely prohibits interferance with the indiginous tribal people and their lifestyle and beliefs. They can be studied, but any offort to change they way they live or what they believe is punishible by jail and heavy fines. Similaw laws exist in other places in South America as well as in parts of Australia, Asia and Africa.

IF one is going to follow a religion then they should follow that religion and no other beleif, moral, ethical, or legal system. IF you are a religious person then that religion is the ONLY authority you acknowledge.

So, that being said, it would not be suitable for someone who is becmoing a christian to continue to adhere to any previous beliefs. The same goes for taking up ANY religion.

Hmmm

I think they can..

but in Christianity, like Islam and all God sent religions, theres something called: Trusting God with everything.

This comes with a price you have to pay tho...you dont try to 'heal' yourself perse..or ask anyone else for such healing and live with the pain or illness ...expecting God to heal it for you...if it is impossible to heal by medicine.

Edit: This shows the extent of your trust and faith and your willingness to live your fate no matter what..

You will find most of those practicing Christianity will tend to steer from their cultural teachings, because doesnt it say in the Bible that magical stuff etc.. is not accepted? Im not sure but i remember hearing or seeing some reference to that.
