well it may have the power settings to turn off monitor after a short period, start it up again, lay on the F-8 key to go into Safe mode,,,, and you can check the settings for the power down on the monitor, Otherwise,,, if you had System restore activated while your in safe mode you should be able to restore to previous point, Otherwise,, if you have a brand name laptop Dell, HP, etc If you dont have the factory restore discs I would call them and ask for some, I bought a used Dell 2 months ago, no restore discs came with it, I contacted them online and they sent me new ones, if you dont have a brand name laptop, then you may need to have a full version, since you mention it "Formats" , But also you need to have the drivers for your CD Rom on the disc otherwise the CD Rom wont have anyway to continue on and read the disc you put in there for it to read,,, If you dont have a disc with a bootable version, IM or E-M me and I can maybe help you out,

Dont be to disapointed with the workstation. sounds like a nightmare of direction to absolutely everyone, even techs. My first step may well be try yet another puzzling force that is prevalent good. as quickly as you have achieved that concept then be happy to take the different HDD and tell them how plenty you have been ripped off. Get a replace if that's the case. Take care
