Everyone is born with a purpose. Some discover it sooner than others, some don't till the very end of life.

Throughout our lives, most of us who aspire to be rich, famous and powerful. fail to discover the “purpose” or our mission in life.

The question, “Why am I here?” crosses everyone's mind some time or the other. Nobody is completely selfish in spite of the love for money, prestige and power. Most of us want to leave something behind for our loved ones. In other words, we all have the potential of discovering the purpose of life but remain too busy to think or do something about it.

The basic idea of discovering the purpose of life is enshrined in all major religions, Hinduism, Christianity and Islam and also in Buddhism, which is more of a philosophy of life than a religion because the concept of God does not exist in Buddhism.

We all struggle to survive as long as we live. This is a natural instinct. Death is a fact of life but most of us dread the very thought of dying. Even when a terminally ill person is breathing through a respirator, he/she will to hang on to life till the very end when the body cannot sustain the soul any more.

Ancient Hindu sages had a concept of death defined as "Samadhi” which is relatively unknown in the West. Samadhi is a natural state of tranquility into which your consciousness is transformed from consciousness of our natural mundane attachments to what we have acquired and achieved during in lives

The concept of a peaceful death through "Samadhi" takes away the fear of death.

Only those who have discovered the meaning and purpose of their lives are the ones who can understand the concept of Samadhi. This requires a lot of self-discipline and contemplation through meditation over a period of time.

My own person belief is that we are not born to just eat, drink and die. Each one of us, has a reason to live and a purpose in life. Everyone has to discover his own purpose. There is no single answer or definition of the purpose of life that applies to all.

As we've had this sort of Q many times, i 'l l check my old answers for you:

Yahoo answer.3

Basically, if God is self-sufficient why did He make man?
What is the point of life?

MY ANSWER:

This is a perfect question.
It deserves a perfect answer - not that I can give that but I can at least get you started.
BUT IT'S BIG!!!!!

The Beginning:
We HAVE ALWAYS LIVED, but not with bodies.

At a certain point in our eternal progression, God offered us 'spiritual bodies', which we accepted, and then spiritually begat us as His spirit sons and daughters in Heaven.

But some of us eventually chose to be wicked.
These were Satan and his many 'cronies'!

As we lived in Heaven we could see that our Heavely Father had an IMMORTAL GLORIFIED BODY, and we wanted to be like Him.
Like any powerfully Loving Father, He too desired that we could become like Him.
So He set up a plan whereby that was possible.

He offered us the opportunity to learn to become fathers and mothers just like Him and our Heavenly Mother.
That was possible by our receiving physical bodies to learn to grow in personal power etc.
Our memory has been cut off that we might PROPERLY be Tested, that we might learn to stand on our own 2 feet, and that we might learn to live by the power of Faith - not just Sight, as previously.

He needs us because He loves us,

Too expierience Life in every way. So the creator can BE. To simply exhist would be all too boring, so we allow God/ess this opportunity. We are the body of God/ess. We are made of 3 (body, mind, spirit) in the likeness of the One...who is also 3. We are 1 (body) of the 3 that makes up the creator. To exhist, one must have seperate parts. I am this. I am that. And I am neither this nor that. Without this trinity, there is NO consciousness.

In short, Adam was created in Heaven but he disobeted God and he sent him to Earth. Earth is at the lowest sky (the univers) out of seven. We're not allowed to sin at the highest sky but we can here. The purpose is a sort of a test and to proove to ourselves if we deserve heaven or hell.

The totality of all that exists is very much like a gigantic computer simulation, and, that computer generates a virtual reality hologram scenario full of animate and inanimate objects. They are all interacting in accordance to predefined rules of organization, whereby this universal machine resolves extremely difficult computations.

It is called the Mind of God.

God lets us live so that we can make a decision. We can choose to serve the father and be with him or serve the devil. He's giving us the opportunity to choose. You can't just say "yes God I want to be with you that's my choice". You have to show him that you want to be with him by your actions. That's the purpose of existence.

THERE ISN'T ONE.
Your purpose is exactly what you want it to be and is governed by your own actions and decisions.
Same applies to me and to everyone else.
There is no pre-ordained destiny, fate or, indeed, any special purpose.
Reality is cruel, eh?
