First, thank you for your service. I honor all of our Veterans. Second, I'm not a current service member but am married to an Army Veteran, have two currently deployed, with our youngest son leaving for Basic in June.
Support? Oh yes! All one has to do is visit a post office on any given day and just observe the requests for 'custom forms'.
I belong to many support groups who send out a minimum of 25 care packges weekly. We sponsor the 5 major hospitals in Iraq, our MAOs and many Veteran Hospitals here in the States.
As for me and my family, we will serve, honor and pay our respects to ALL Military members as well as our cherished Veterans.
BTW, I lost a son in September. This Mom knows the high cost of freedom and we choose to HONOR his memory by carrying on his dreams.
Again, thank you for YOUR service.

I would answer this question as 'yes and no.' I see a lot of empty words in 'support.' But the assumptions behind those words (that I am not smart enough to avoid going to Iraq) are insulting.

Another thing that I notice is that the same people who claim to 'support the troops' also automatically believe any and all accusations made against those troops. If they really supported the troops they would be waiting to see actual evidence before passing judgment.

Desert Storm Vet here.
I hope that the troops are getting our support. Protest the war not the troops. A soldier goes where he is told to. My brother-in-law was in the second Gulf War. I even gave him some of my useful gear. (Hey to any C-Btry Warrior out there) (3/8 FAR, Fort Bragg N.C.)

I feel that most people support the troops themselves, but it gets complicated when you ask about the war itself. I think that's fair. I am enlisted in the Air Force and I feel that people care about me and what I do. My job is to load bombs and missiles and do mechanical and elecrtical work on the F-15 fighter jet.

I love my job and what I do.

My mom is a 5th grade teacher and they have sent shoe boxes to soldiers with goodies in them for years. When I get a chance to go home during the school year I'll go to her class in uniform and talk to her class and show them cool stuff about the military. I don't try to recuit them (they're in 5th grade!) But I emphesize the importance of school and education and the benifits of the military in my life.

The support is still great. Everyone i talk to thanks me and says that i am doing a great job and all that. The goodies i got from the states in Iraq were coming in about 3 times a month, and it was alot of chit. But thanks for supporting us and everyone else.
We appreciated it also. Have a good day.

They are getting supported! That's why Bush cut widows pay in half and cut Veterans Hospitals by 8 Billion, while retaining people beyond their ETS!

He's been real helpful!
