Hi,
I totally know where you're coming from. I struggled with really, really bad acne about 2 years ago. Intially I tried tetra-cyclin and retin-a. However, my skin got freakishly dry and I started getting a weird rash on my face.
I quickly stopped taking them and tried Proactive. That sure was a waste of money. I finally started showering directly after the gym and found that this helped tremendously. I also tried a free product I got on the net called Beautiful Skin. Believe it or not, it worked way better than the prescription stuff! I only paid $4.95 for shipping for a month supply. I re-ordered and I use it to make sure I don't get back my zits. It also has tea tree oil which feels really good on my skin.
Here's the link if you want to get it, I think it's the best thing I've ever bought for the price $4.95

Good Luck!

It's overactive sebaceous glands and there is no evidence that greasy foods or chocolate have any impact at all. It's common with teens but not limited to that age group. Some claim Proactive is the best without a prescription, but in your case of the scarring, the best choice would be to go to a dermatologist. Costly, yes, but may be worth your quality of life via a better self esteem. Make deals with your parents and stick to them to get perhaps a visit even every 6 months. Good luck.

In addition to some of the suggestions everyone else has provided, I would suggest tanning in a bed 2-3 times per week if you do not have fair skin. Also, if your skin is very oily, alcohol will significantly dry it out, which is what you want to do if your skin is over-oily. Rice paper is good to blot with throughout the day, you can get it at a beauty supply store. Also, rice paper is basically the same stuff they make toilet seat covers with for public restrooms, so if you're low on funds it works just as well.

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!
Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:
1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.
There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

I share my sympathy for you! Everybody hates zits and pimples. They are soo annoying. I reccommend you to see your local doctor who can refer you to a dermatologist, who experts at this things better than we have from past experience! Dermatologist can recommend and help you reduce those annoying zits. If you buy acne face wash, make sure the acne face wash has benzyl peroxide. Benzyl peroxide can help fight those bacteria and oil in your skin. DOn't go for any acne products that seem really useful and might work or like celebrity endorsed acne treatments. It's best to go to your dermatologist who might prescribe you with tablets, medicine or some kind of treatment.
Good luck!

I really feel for you - this time last year I had really bad skin which was extremely itchy, so of course I was always scratching making it sore and inflammed!!
I got fed up so went to my doctors and explained how I had tried loads of different treatments as a teenager none of which had worked, and as a young girl in my twenties was fed up of looking like i was and wanted something.
He referred me to the dermatologist (there is normally a waiting list unless you go private), who prescribed roaccutaine. Within weeks the redness and angriness of the spots had gone down, and they weren't sore or itchy anymore. It took 6 months altogether for them to go, and its different in everyone - but its definately miracle stuff!!
Beware though - if you do go on it, you have to be prepared for the side affects that come with it - they're not nice, but definately worth it in the end!!!!!
In the meantime though - do not use any medicated stuff from chemists etc. Just use a very gentle soap and water, don't wear foundation etc. And be careful wearing scarves and high neck clothes in cold weather as this always used to irritate mine alot more!!!!

The thing is... NEVER SQUEEZE IT!
But if you HAVE to or NEED to then here's a trick to make the scars less seen, first wash your hands, then get two q-tips, one on each hand, then use the the tips of it to squeeze it out, once it starts bleeding, STOP! Bleeding will make the scar worse..
See yah!

I think you should see your GP who will refer you to a dermatologist. I had the same thing and suffered for years and then was told I actually had a skin condition which was cleared up with two treatments of roacutaine. i now have nice skin. goodluck.
