Do you think the inerrant Word of God needs to be defended? I would also appreciate any links to a low cost/no cost on line apologetics course.

We have precedent for it. Paul in Acts on his missionary journeys reasoned with the philosophers and tried to convince them.

I would recommend as a start, "The Postmodern World" by Millard Erickson. Without this understanding, it would be tough to do apologetics. After that, you should have some good ideas what area of apologetics you feel is the most important for you in your area to continue research on.

Apologetics has to do with the verbal defense of our faith, that is, to give reasons for the hope we have in Christ. A major purpose of apologetics is to clear the doubts in the mind of a critical thinker that would hinder him/her from considering Christ.

We do have a very low cost Online Apologetics course. Please visit our website: http://www.rzimindia.org (click on the "Online Education" link). Or write to us. We will forward to you more information.

I dislike the term "apologetics" what does that denote? That Christians are ashamed of their God and their religious beliefs? If you want to defend your beliefs then defend them. If you want to lead people to Christ then witness to them in a kind and gentle manner. I bet Jesus is just tickled no end that we(Christians) have found a way to minister to our non believing brothers and sisters in an apologetic manner on his behalf. It sounds as if we are ashamed of our beliefs. The only time I apologize to someone is when I have wrong him/her and I am ashamed of my actions which in turn necessitates an apology.
