He was the founder and principal financial officer of the National Association of Evangelicals. Isn't it going to be a lot more complicated than to just say he's been fired?

According to an article in yesterday's paper, the governing Board did not accept his resignation, but actually fired him.

I didn't ask if anyone should forgive him. My personal opinion that one is repentent when they admit it before they get caught. Afterwards and its aall show, but that is only my opinion and not what I asked here. What I wonder is if he will still gain financially from the organization?

If you read the Bible, especially the OT Prophets, true repentance comes from the heart, not from getting caught/punished.

One of the principles of the New Testament is that leaders/elders need to be qualified, AND they also need to have a good reputation with those outside the community. This guy Haggard will never have this again, so he should be out of any leadership position for life.

Yes, good point, even after he was caught , he was still trying to deny it until the church finally fired him after having evidence, only then did he become "repentant". How convenient.

It was far more than immoral. It was and is complete hypocracy. Preaching from the pulpit and condeming people for doing the very thing he was doing all along. He is who he is but I feel sorry for the guy because he has tried to live a life that is contrary to who he really is.

He has used the gay prostitute and ecstacy incident as a marketing tool, as an act of redemption and salvation. Haggard has promoted the incident as a personal "I'm a sinner just like you, I have fallen, please help me redeem myself and pray for me..."

He's doing quite well, humbling himself the way he has......the only way is up from here on in.....

He has embraced the scandal and turned it into a faith healing exercise in covering his own butt. Good for him. Crafty son of a gun.
