There is one simple question that you must ask yourself and give yourself an honest answer to: "Do I believe there is a god?"
If your answer is no, then you are an atheist. If your answer is yes, then you are a theist (regardless of whether you follow an organized religion or not). If you aren't sure, you're agnostic.
Believe whatever makes the most sense to you. If you aren't sure what that is, read more about science and various religions until you find something that makes sense to you.
I didn't "become" an atheist, I always was one. I have never believed in god, simply because I have never seen any sign of him and have no reason to believe he exist elsewhere than in some people's imagination.

I don't think its a simple matter of "turning to atheism". Atheists who were formally religious usually start to question their beliefs, start to wonder why they remain in their religion, start to take a big step back to see if they truly believe god exists. I think you are starting on this journey of "deconversion".
But the truth is that you can't simply decide to believe or not to believe. You have to question whether you truly believe god exists and why. Because everyone else believes? Because a book tells you so? Because the belief makes you feel loved and safe?
Maybe you can live with faith alone, maybe you think there is a god out there and you need to look for a belief system which suits you. Or maybe you require evidence for the existence of god, and see no rational reason to believe that god exists. If that's the case, then you don't need to ask the question "should i turn to atheism" because you are already atheist. On the other hand, you may feel that there is no evidence to prove or disprove the existence of god, and there never will be, then you are an agnostic.
I did not "become" atheist. I was born an atheist. I am a very rational person and I question everything around me. I see too many flaws in the belief in god (and abrahamic religions as a whole) to be convinced that god exists. I believe that the laws of physics, evolution, probability etc are enough to describe and explain the world around us.

In your listed problems,well...I don't really advice you to be an atheist if your reasons is that "God seems busy in the moment."
You see, atheism is not about being angry or displease with the "mysterious" works of a deity. Remember that atheism is not a religion nor a replacement for faild faith.
A person becomes an atheist not because of desolution in his faith. People became atheist due to philosophical or scientific reasons of the impossibility and improbability of a god or gods. A scientific atheist is well...like Richard Dawkins for example, believe that science have gave us a good reasons not to believe in a supernatural nobodaddy in the sky. These scientific atheists doesn't believe in a god because god is very impossible in the natural world. Philosophical atheists on the other hand doen't believe in a god due to its philosophical implications. In my case, I'm more on the philosophical reasons than on the scientific reasons because I believe that god talk is more on philosophy than scientific.
An atheist never force people to become an atheist. Evangelism is not our forte. If you want to be an atheist, well...it's up to you. But for an atheist, god is a meaningless word. To say that you become an atheist because "God let your dog die in a Saturday night after your girl friend have left you" is not a reason to place reason above faith.

Hmm... Why would you become an atheist? Just because you don't know where to turn next doesn't really mean you have to "belong" to a group of some kind. If you like to read and you want to learn more about the bible versus history go online and order a book called The 12th Planet. It is book 1 in a series called The Earth Chronicles by Zaccaria Zitchin. It talks a lot about early translations and the discoveries of historical documents. It makes a lot of sense and answers a lot of questions about why we are here and how we got here.

I started to research more and more the field of science. (No wonder why in the dark ages they fundamentalist theists tried to burn all the science books.) For me, it's logical, rational, and reasonable, NOT DELUSIONAL.
The bible-science just doesn't add up. Physics, Chemistry, Botony, Biology, Psychology, Astronomy, Astro-physics, micro-biology(need I go on?) however do Add up.
They add up logically. There are many things in the Buy-bull that just aren't credible. hundreds of authors, thousands of re-edits. It has never been written OBJECTIVELY, that is something 180º from Science. In science we can't Prove our theories with the same theory, yet... this is how the whole Buy-Bull and theists beliefs are based. "Well it says that God Did this because Verse BLAH BLAH."
I would find entertainment in watching a Christian explain the "Concept of God" and the Buy-Bull to an Alien. The Alien's face would look so confused.
""Religion is an insult to human dignity, without it you would have Good people doing Good things and Evil people doing Evil things.....for Good people to do Evil things, it takes religion.""
--Steven Weinberg--
You obviously are one of the "Good People." You think rationally and freely and you don't conform to the influences of others. You naturally are prone to doing good, its how the human species will survive. Religion causes many problems with the world, especially since there's not 1 uniformed Religion. Most are doing harm to another b/c they feel threatened about the other's religion becoming too strong and powerful.
You obviously have come to understand the earth, solar system, and are learning the trades of the universe. You have an understanding of these things. The one's that do not somewhat fear its vast expansive knowledge to obtain. They look at it as blashphemy because they can't even begin to understand it. Simple minds they have.
Religion is like a dictatorship, follow the dic's rules or be outcast, shot, or tortured. "Believe or Be Burned" Um... I'll take burned please. I find no bliss in "heaven" knowing that billions upon billions of souls that I've walked the Earth with are being tortured and burned in "hell." If you can find happiness in "heaven" you're an immoral person, where's your empathy? I'll conclude with a quote from Carl Sagan that should help others accept the way things are in this world.
"It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is, than to persist in Delusion; however satisfying and reassuring" it may seem. --Carl Sagan--
So these "religious" people aren't even thinking about global warming and don't have a natural respect for the earth and it's survival, they just hope and pray to be saved.

Turning to Atheism isn't really possible. One becomes an atheist when they stop believing in God. I don't believe, but it seems that you still do. I think that you're in the agnostic category, you seem to believe in god but at the same time are steadily realizing that conventional religion isn't the path for you.
I will ring your doorbell and run away!!!

Atheist is a term used to describe rational minded people who doesn't believe in God.
Should you became an Atheist?
That's entirely up to your own judgement.
Do you believe in God?
Why am i an Atheist? Because i think it is man who invented God and not the other way round. Atheist also doesn't believe in Satan. Only those who believe in God thinks Satan exist.

It just made more sense. I am the same person as ever but I live my life and if I want something I work at getting it instead of praying for it. So much simpler.

You should look into other religions before you throw it all out. If you still believe then you're not atheist. You could just consider yourself non-religious but still believe in God, you'd be agnostic.
In the end it still just boils down to what you believe in.

Really, there is no such thing as an atheist because one cannot prove or disprove that there is a God. So unless you are intentionally being naive, everyone should believe that there is a possibility that there is a God. And if you agree that you can't disprove there is a God then you are an agnostic. Therefore all atheist are actually agnostics.
