She probably keeps getting reinfected by someone at her school. When I caught head lice a very long time ago the only think that worked was a grade 1 skin head.

Step one: Ask your pharmacist which brand of nit lotion is being used in your area at the moment. Head lice become resistant to them, so they rotate the brands.
Step two: Buy two bottles of it. If your daughter has long hair, buy four.
Step three: Apply exactly as the directions instruct. You will have to use two bottles on long hair. Thoroughly clean all hairbrushes and combs.
Step four: Plait your daughter's hair every morning before school. Put the plaits together and keep the hair up. Put a couple of dabs of neat tea tree oil behind her ears and on her parting.
Step five: Every single night, for seven days, plaster her hair in conditioner, sit her on a towel and thoroughly comb her hair from root to tip (including the scalp) with a nit comb, wiping the comb with tissue after each combing. Section off the hair so you don't miss a strand. If the nit lotion missed any eggs, they will hatch again after 7-10 days, so the combing just takes care of any stragglers. Rinse conditioner from hair. Dry it.
Step six: If there are still nits, repeat the process. You have to pull the eggs off the hair strand, or they might hatch and start laying more.
It's hard work, but it's worth it.
Good luck.

I found that Lice Attack worked for my daughter's hair. It is based on coconut oil, that you massage in and leave for 20 minutes, so that all the lice are suffocated, and then you rinse it out, and use a fine tooth comb to remove all the nits which have had their glue dissolved by the oil. You keep combing until no more eggs appear on the comb, and you repeat a week later, in case they have got re-infected. I also have tried Nitty Gritty lice repellant, which is based on Neem oil.
I find that the commonist time for an infestation is the end of September, 2-3 weeks after they are back at school! Make sure you tell the teacher and they send a note to all the parents, as your child got the lice from someone, and if they don't get rid of them, your child will get re-infested! Make sure you check everybody in the house, and tell club leaders as well, in case the donor wasn't a classmate.
I also find that they are less likely to get lice when the hair is short, or plaited. Hope this helps!

Tea tree oil shampoo ( or tea tree oil mixed with normal shampoo) is a great natural way. BUT you really have to go through her hair over and over again for a couple of weeks- you start to feel like a monkey! but it works. Pulling out the nits and searching laboriously for the bugs with a comb is the only way to be sure. I also put lavender oil on my daughter's hair as a deterent, which seems to be working really well. If everybody did the same thing and took the time to go thru their kids hair it would put a stop, unfortunately most parents do a quick lick and a promise and are then surprised when they keep coming back. Also a good idea to put pillows and cuddly toys, hats etc into the tumble dryer for a good half hour... Good luck!

Put conditioner on hair. Leave for about five minutes. Comb hair with an ordinary comb, then a fine comb. Do this every day for two weeks. It takes two weeks for the eggs to hatch. If you don't do it, you'll have baby lice which breed before they're two weeks old.
Complain to the school - it is against the law for the school to tell parents that their kids have headlice, Unbelievable, but true. The more fuss you make, the more it means the school will have to do something. Like have a nit week - no child is allowed to go to school without having a form signed by the parents, confirming they are nit free.
Your school could do this with other schools in the area.
I loathed our headteacher, but this was one of her good ideas.

You've had loads of good advice - my sister in law swears by the conditioner & comb method, whereas my cousin uses an electronic device.
It gives a small electronic charge which kills the headlice on contact but doesn't hurt the child. There's something like it in the latest Argos Catalogue called a Rio Bug Zapper & it costs £14.99.
I'd avoid any that are just vibrating combs because you still have to kill & dispose of the horrible little things.
I expect that, unfortunately, your daughter is getting re-infected every day. Tieing her hair back may help a little.
There's also this site, which gives the recipe for a natural remedy that you could use to deter the headlice (after you've done all the combing out) - it's a mix of Neem Seed Oil & Tea Tree Oil. I'm not too sure what Neem Seed Oil is though I have heard of Tea Tree Oil & have used it in the past to discourage fleas & treat a nasty flea rash that my Setter puppy had.

Tell the school first of all because someone is not doing their job with their own kids hair! Use a PLASTIC comb (not metal - they don't work). Wash the hair and then put loads of conditioner on and comb through with the nit comb. Do it every night for a week or so and they will go. The 10 minute potions don't work, you need the ones you leave on overnight but even they don't always work. You can try an electric comb too if you want, they are pretty good.

Firstly inform the school again and ask them to pay for the lotion this usually has the desired affect. My best mate is a head teacher and she teaches in a inner city school so it's rife there. She issues everysingle pupil with tea tree oil shampoo which they absolutly hate and a nit comb. Any child found with nits gets sent home. Go through their hair every single day and it should get rid of them to start with then use tea tree oil. Failing that on the market is a new product called headrun and they will never get used to it.

Yes, I agree with all the comments about using lots of conditioner. If you don't have any, fabric softener has the same effect. You need to use a very fine toothed comb though. Normal ones just let the nits slide through.
I used to teach 8 year olds and remember having over half my class at one time, being infected with nits. The nurse had found an older brother with nits and came to check the sister. When she found them, she checked us all. The 'nitless' children were sent to other classes and the rest of them were banned from roaming anywhere but the loo! Their parents were asked to come and collect them asap. They were given a 'How to get Rid of Nits' leaflet and told to keep them home until they were nit free. I remember spending a lovely afternoon with my dwindling class, making skull and crossbones and sticking them to the classroom door. Those were the days!
And if you're wondering, no I didn't have them!

Try peroxide mix with water (30% [peroxide + 70% water)
After washing leave it on for about 30 mins. Not harmful
to the hair, do the same again in 5-6 days and then another time because eggs will hatch by then.and although nits are easy to get rid of, the eggs have a covering that will protect them. You can also disinfect
the house with a stronger solution (50-50).
