No. Exercise and diet go hand in hand. If you are taking in more calories than you are burning, you are going to gain weight; and your body stores those calories in the form of fat. If you want to lose a flabby stomach, by all means, continue to do the sit-ups and leg raises. But, to lose the fat, you've got to get off the animal fats and red meat...change your protein intake to fish and on a rare occassion, chicken or other poultry(without the skin!) limit the times per week you eat starches and sugars(processed white sugar is just nasty!) The harder you workout, the less fattening foods you eat, the faster you'll lose the fat in the area you're working on. Good luck!

I'm sure using a hula-hoop will burn calories although it might not be as beneficial as you would expect. They do make heavier hula-hoops that are designed for working out (check out the link below).

One of my favorite and most effective forms of sit ups would be the countdown method. We had to do these for conditioning for volleyball and they definitely worked!
Basically all you do is lay down flat on your back with your hands under your tailbone and lift your feet about 2-3 inches off the ground and hold it for one second. Then you do one crunch. Then you hold your feet up for 2 seconds, and do 2 crunches. Go all the way up to 10, then back down to one again. You can obviously modify this and go up to 15 or 20. But doing this everyday, you'll definitely see results! Good luck!

yes they will but these are just target areas exercises, you also need to think about diet and other form of exercise like running to help you have a flat tummy.
Example: Mon, Wed, Fri: Run,
Tue, Thur, Sat: hula-hoop, sit ups(start with around 30, and slowly increase when you are stronger)

Exercising and sit ups do help, but the only way to a designer stomach is to combined diet with exercise. Check out Joey Atlas web page Abs of Steel, it really is a great guide.

I think they will and maybe you can do it all long as you can. I suppose you'll know it when it's too much for you right?
